Ah, Forsaken Gods is a different story, yes. The same people are patching it though, from what I have read, so it might be worth a play eventually.
Maybe there is some confusion in this post? The question was about Gothic 3, but the link the poster has on GoGames goes to Gothic 3: Forgotten Gods. Forgotten Gods was like an expansion for Gothic 3, except it could be played without the main game Gothic 3. Forgotten Gods is the PoS everyone is referring to.
Gothic 3 with the community made fan patches is well worth the price if you enjoy RPG style games. Look for bundled deals on Gothic 3 and you can get Gothic 1 & 2 also. Eack have their quirks, but once you get used to the UI and game play they are good.

There are a lot of community patches out for Gothic 3 which really overhaul the game a hell of a lot. If you're a gothic fan, a buck ain't that much of a waste.

Speaking of Risen, I just got that at a great price. Saw it was on sale at Direct2Drive for $15 bucks, and ordered it. Ended up being one of the every 5 orders, so got it for free

You should have picked Risen lately, instead.
Alpha Protocol is much better than Conviction. While its individual mechanics don't quite measure up to games that specialize in them, AP is greater than the sum of its parts and is far more memorable for it. I've never played any game that carries the same level of ambiguous morality and choice and consequence. Conversely, Conviction is just a severely dumbed-down version of its predecessors. It is utterly forgettable and contains little to no depth.
Can't be any worse then Alpha Protocol... sorry I paid 7.50 for it.
Also, Amazon is selling Painkiller Black Edition for 79 cents. That's right 79 cents only.

Gogamer is selling Conviction for $10. However, the game still sucks regardless of price.
Don't get Splinter Cell: Conviction for PC. The port is abysmal. The mouse lag is horrendous, the online NEVER works and the performance overall is terrible considering it's on the Unreal 2.5 engine. Also, the DRM, as my dorm's internet connection isn't the best, disconnected me from the game numerous times.
Almost pick up Splinter Cell if it was 8-10 bucks, but as it stands it's a bit cheaper to get it off of Ubisoft's store then Steam.
