Call of Duty: Black Ops Preloads

Steam and Direct2Drive each are offering preloads of Call of Duty: Black Ops for customers who have preordered or pre-purchased the military shooter sequel (Direct2Drive is also offering an additional 20% off any other Call of Duty game). The Direct2Drive page says has this to say about when the game will unlock: "Current Release Date: November 9th, 2010 at 7AM PST." For its part, the Steam page currently says: "This game will unlock in approximately 14 hours," which would seem to be about 10:00 am tomorrow morning, but according to what an Activison rep told Shacknews, store-bought copies can be unlocked as soon as they are purchased, even though they use Steam as well.

I am serious. Whats the point in the 30 mph zone? Speed kills. So if it was a black guy blasting out N.W.A. with tattos all over, he would have been just give a warning to?

5 - 10 mph over the limit I could understand, 20mph? It's dangerous.

If that cool by you fine, me, I feel that not giving a guy a ticket because he as a game in his car is wrong.

Diffrent rules for diffrent people opens up room for injustances to happen.

(sorry about my spelling)

Here's the thing...I never mentioned race, or anything about the person other than he had the game. You are already infering that I profile...

As an aside - and since you didn't email me - I will let you know. I didn't TICKET ANYONE LAST NIGHT. I had many and numerous opportunities to do so - and against my departments better wishes, it was an education evening for those who were stopped by me.

Off of the top of my head (and I make a lot of stops), here are the things people were giving a warning for: (each numerous times and all ARE PETTY MISDEMEANORS IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA)
Weaving
Speeding
No Lights
Not driving within their lane
No signal
Stop sign
Stopping in the intersection
Lic plate light
Tail light
Brake light
Registration
Wrong address on dl
Fail to get new DL after moving into state
Evading a traffic control device
Fail to reduce speed and move over 1 lane for emergency vehicle (I almost never only warn for this one - and the guy was even arguing with me)

It was a slow night.

Now, being that I am in an urban environment, I had contact with ALMOST every walk of life. It has nothing to do with "different rules for different people". If you have been wronged by a cop - I am sorry for that - but assuming I would also wrong you is just as bad.

Like I said - feel free to email me to have an adult discussion about it. I am always open to discussing damn near anything, and many people do hit me up with questions/comments.

At least warez it or rent it instead, don't support the dark side of the force here.

Kotick is a dick yes, but warezing the game won't hurt him one bit. It will hurt the QA folk who are the first to get let go when the game doesn't reach sales expectations. It's the junior people on the team that get hurt by this, not the exec. Don't be a Kodick.

It's all over the tv about the midnight release. Not for pc though, you guys don't get it till 7am...PST. Hope you r not on the east coast, can't play till 10am!

Which is fine because I gotta work tomorrow during the day anyways. As long as it unlocks before 4PM when I get home I am happy.
Yeah I gave up bitching about unlock times because of this. I'm getting to old to stay up all night and still work a 8 hour day.

Yeah same here. I cant stay up all night and play this, I am going to have the rest of my life to play this game. I rather get a good night sleep work the next day and play the game at night when the kids are in bed.

That's just me, I understand others have different schedules/priorities.

Well but theres not much to choose from when you want to play something online and the last COD had an pretty fun and cinematic, if not totally idiotic narrated SP campaign.

Update
Pros
Very cinematic single player.
Interesting story good script.
Menu interface's & cutscenes very polished.
Maps very detailed.
Perks well done in multi.
Zombie killing looks like a fun addon has a bioshock vibe.

Cons
AI surprisingly /shockingly dumb.
Can't see any option on a par with MW2 spec ops for co-op gaming.:(
Muti not completely smooth but still very playable.
Guns feel tinny after the thumping heavy bass and destructable environments of MOH.(Oh well thats why we have an array of games)
Heavily scrpited, bit more ground given up to consoles. (Not surprised by this as its not new & some aspects I really enjoy)
eh... relax & enjoy the ride, it's a blockbuster!

Those of you who don't have it yet you are not missing much. The game is laggy as all hell right now. Nearly everyone is getting some god awful hitching lag while playing, and there is alot of directx related crashes for everyone I played with tonight. =P So they got some bugs to work out for sure.

I wonder if the downloaded version is as buggy. You would think with this much potential revenue on the table that they would have beta-tested this thing to the point where it never needed a patch.

I'd hardly call the revenue "potential" since you can't get a refund.

Ah well, if the game doesn't work on release day, it's one more day I can work on Nanowrimo...
