Here's a conclusion from a random review I read:
thats the review by the guy that didnt even play the game - he mentions nothing about new features at all or anything about the differences between it and f3 in relation to f1 and f2
and arent you the guy thats talking about how awesome Arcania Gothic 4 is?? that pretty much invalidates any opinion of RPGs you might have, sorry

To the guy below, if you think a 100+ hour experience is an expansion pack then I don't know how you'll ever get anything enjoyable out of this gaming industry.
So it's a massive expansion pack. But it's not a "new" game IMO. Same look, same feel, same everything. What, they traded greenish/gray for grayish brown? Still dealing with fucking giant scorpions everywhere you go? Beh.
Look at Quake vs. Quake II, Half Life vs. HL2, those were sequels. These days, Bioshock, GoW, etc, nothing but long expansion packs for the most part.
And you're right. I don't hardly ever get anything enjoyable out of this gaming industry. Maybe one title per year ends up being worth my time/money. At least the GTA sequels still change engines (or use upgraded versions) and are handled by the same developer.

Because thats the day/time that Beth picked? Regardless of the coordination, they picked that time (as evidenced by their blog as I mentioned).
Selling early would mean people would get upset at getting a non-functional game.
As for why to do a simultaneous release there's lots of reasons for that. To prevent price gouging, to help reduce piracy, to have the hype for the game to peak worldwide at the same time, and more.
And yes, I agree, it was mishandled, I thought it was mishandled by steam until I saw the thing on beth blog mentioning it. Presumably they wanted to have it 3 hours later for one coast rather than 3 hours early for another coast. I think thats stupid, but thats what beth decided to do.

My only complaint so far there's only like 4 or 5 songs, and they get repetitive REAL fast.
Ecthelion wrote on Oct 19, 2010, 08:44:I didn't have any problems getting it today at futureshop. For exactly the same price that they're charging on steam($49.82- thanks to price matching competitions).
I see this comment a lot, and for some reason it seems that people forgot or aren't aware that you can actually buy retail games from online vendors, saving a trip to the store. You won't always get the disc on the day of release,...

Let's see:
Strategy Informer, 8.5/10.
Eurogamer, 9/10.
PCGamer, 84/100.
Computer and Videogames, 8.1/10.
IGN UK, 9.0/10.
Escapist Magazine, 4/5.
Destructoid, 9.0/10.
I'd say it looks fine to me...

Dev wrote on Oct 19, 2010, 12:02:I've had something similar happen in-store at Gamestop too. I remember back when I used to shop from that store, they would often get games a day after the release date, and even then they were likely to be sold out by the time I made it to the store.Ecthelion wrote on Oct 19, 2010, 08:44:Last time I did that (order online by a retailer), I didn't get it until more than a week after release. It was an order from gamestop, and was a big release, starcraft 2.

The endscore is "Meh". A 3/5.
This is exactly what I expected this game would be. It had "Meh" all over it from the first moment I saw footage. Still the hype was so heavy it could kill hordes of gorillas if it'd drop on them.
I really think this is going to be an "I hate to say I told you so." situation in a few days. Just throwing it out there. We'll see.
