Out of the Blue

As fall progresses in these parts, the annual migration of spiders into my attic office seems complete, as from where I sit I can see a good five of them nestled into corners. I know some spiders hibernate, but I have no idea if that's what these guys are trying to do, or if they just headed to the warmest remaining spot in the house hoping to find food (which seems pretty nonexistent). I am tempted to relocate them outside, figuring if they are hibernators this will help them enter stasis, and if they are not, at least this will spare them the fate of starving to death, though at this point I'm still letting nature take its course.

Ahh... I feel better now.

It's funny because someone just mentioned it to me on the phone and I sighed loudly which they took as relief instead of the annoyance it really was. It's like watching The Notebook with your girlfriend.

All right, now go outside and try and find a spider larger than that.

The largest I've seen between my time in OH and NC was about 1.5 inches. I think it was a wolf spider. I've seen an Actias Luna wwaayyyy bigger than that.

I've seen these guys in Michigan despite supposedly being a southern thing. They get pretty big.

edit: Actually it could have been one of these which actually are found in Michigan

Yea, about a month ago we got our infestation of spiders. We get them 2-3 times a year. I personally don't like having to clean up all the nests - so they get the smash whenever I see em, then I clean the wall - not a big deal.

The dogs do like watching them - and flies don't last long - the pups are good at killing those.

I think the real problem is that many americans and europeans are extremely prude when it comes to toilets..... maybe because they can't buy or install a new one without half the town seeing it. (Unless yo a plumber) ^^

I'll never understand the spider hating.

Neither did this one girl I dated.
We were on vacation in a beautiful beach cottage when I saw a huge fucking spider on the ceiling directly above the bed. I got up to go grab a solo cup and paper so I could trap it and toss it outside. She rolled her eyes at me and went all smashy-time on it.

Net result: big brown streak on the white ceiling. Distracted me every fucking time I saw it. Mood-killer!

This reminds me of that old urban legend of people eating an average of four spiders in their sleep during their lifetime. Since many of us, yours truly included, live in cold places more or less devoid of spiders, is it safe to assume that Blue & his neighbours will be racking up eight kills at least?

I hate leaving a trail of spider guts on the wall, and hate when I miss or don't finish it and suddenly there's a frantic spider sprinting somewhere.
Ick, I hear you. There's never a time in my life when I act more girly than when I stumble on a nasty house spider unawares.

I'll let the outside spiders live in peace but for inside spiders it's smashy smashy time.

So I'll hit'm with a spray or two of cologne. Sure, I put more on them than I would myself, but it kills them cleanly and makes my ceiling smell good for a day!

After viewing/reading the bathroom tech slideshow/article I get the impression the author(s) can't appreciate toilets that have advanced beyond 1950. Did you know there are more homes in Japan with advanced toilet features, like a bidet seat, than homes with microwaves?

Early man realized the sheer folly of feeding several sheep to a tiger in order for it to produce a sheep's weight of meat.

I'm sure the fact tigers eat people and sheep don't had nothing to do with it.

thats definitely more of a concern but even then theres plenty more that "prehistoric ancestors" were thinking about and it wasnt regarding their facebook status ... but ask a garbage man and he'll tell you that tiger corpses are more stinky and thats why they did it... ask a diary farming fisherman and you get "meat production"
