MCV has word on the results of Turbine's decision to drop subscription fees for The Lord of the Rings Online, saying the move has doubled the game's revenue. Word: "In addition, a million new accounts have been created and 20 per cent of the game’s former players have returned. Peak concurrency has jumped by 300 per cent and the total active players count has increased four-fold."
sauron, you seem to be confusing the people who actually create the game with the businessmen in charge of the business.
I'd doubt there's much of a difference there. I'd guess the lines are quite blurred.
I'd also doubt anyone there could get a job at a hedge fund or Goldman.
And I'm using a very, very broad interpretation of "greedy." I'm using it as "trying to make more than necessary to get by." Which is the way many people here often seem to when accusing companies of being greedy.
