Diablo III Interview

Designing Diablo III on Eurogamer.net is an interview with Blizzard's Jay Wilson about progress on Diablo III, the upcoming action/RPG. Topics include the addition of crafting to the game, the role of artisans, limitations to item customization, lessons learned from the launch of StarCraft II, randomizing loot, more involved resource mechanics, whether they are looking to advance the genre, and more.

2015. Maybe 2014. But not a day earlier than that.

By then there's a good chance I'm no longer gaming. This year was crap. If The Witcher 2 doesn't blow me away, I'm done. Dead serious.
I have no time for games even though I still love and miss them. I still need to resume and finish Crysis, World in Conflict, C&C3:KW, Oblivion, etc.

It honestly wouldn't be so bad if they didn't announce it 10 years ahead of time like a bunch of douches.

except that didnt happen

sequel to the 1997 hit PC game, Diablo.

Diablo II was one of the most popular games of 2000.

A sequel, Diablo III, was announced in 2008.

True, more than 200,000 thousand people who have played to love D1 and D2 will be perished prior to the D3 chapter1 release of late 2013 or mid 2014, (SC2 saga has to be completed obv), but I am willing to wait, because I don't want D3 in it's current state. It will feel like a 3D cartoon fest if rel'd too early. pls Blizzard, make it a DX11 or DX12 supported title. add the realism to the characters. don't let me feel let down in the first enemy encounter, realizing that every one of the 50 goblins has the EXACT same 3D triangle render to them with no distinguishable outlined physical features whatsoever. Or this will surely make the undead go dead and roll over in their graves once more. In anycase, I look forward to playing D3 chapter 1 of 4 @ $59.99 digital release (no box, no manual, No Lan, who cares)+ $5 per microtransactions in all it's glory when it is finally out "finished when it's done". In the mean time, I will enjoy Dungeon Seige3 , and Titan Quest2, and the non-replayable borefactored Torchlight 2 till D3 hits on my new Graphene Intel Core3-100 core CPU with Holographic 3DS-esque displays.

Considering recent Blizzard related news, if it's all to be believed, I am sure they are in no rush to release, with the SC2 money they just made, as well as that monthly WoW check that's larger than most nations' yearly gross income. Add the Cataclysm gold rush they will experience in December...

It could be awhile before Blizzard runs low enough on cash to bother releasing D3. 2013+ ?

Diablo fans will all have died of acute carpal-tunnel-related illnesses before D3 sees the light of day.

Thats a pretty Interesting read, focus on Story they claim, i hope its true. SC2's story was a bit too western-macho-cliché for my taste but theres no danger that can happen in D3.

Overall the only fear i have is that it won't be out next year to xmas judging from the interview
