12 Million WoW Subscribers [Oct 07, 2010, 10:38 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Almost two years since Blizzard announced WoW had 11 million subscribers comes a new announcement saying World of Warcraft has now reached the 12 million subscriber plateau. They explain: "This milestone was reached in the wake of the mainland Chinese launch of World of Warcraft's second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, and also as global anticipation continues to mount for the December 7 release of the game's third expansion, Cataclysm." They also answer the inevitable questions about the methodology for tabulating these numbers: "World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules."
Blizzard is such a fricking liar, there is no way these numbers can be correct. I think they have gone through their database and are pulling numbers from every person that ever had an account on their servers. I know for a fact that these numbers are bullshit.
I’ve been on the servers and the feeling is the games dying. It’s been dead for a while now.
The number of people on the servers are way down and guild recruitments are pretty much nil. Our guild put a halt to any new apps because no one is showing up for raids and as I said people are just plain worn out on the game... It’s getting harder and harder to find anyone to quest with. And those that have played are worn the hell out of the game.
Most have disabled their accounts and are waiting on the add-on, but that will only give life to this game for maybe a year at best. Wow is slowly but surely a done game. Argue if you want but the facts are blizzard is lying about these numbers.
