Ships Ahoy - Haunted House

Atari's Haunted House is now available, offering a new remake of the Atari 2600 classic that helped introduce the survival/horror genre almost 30 years ago. Naturally, the new game is a far cry from the original, showing such modern touches as rooms that are more than black boxes and a player character with body parts beyond a pair of eyes, as well as co-op support. The digitally distributed game is available from the Atari Store as well as Direct2Drive, GamersGate, and Steam, and as of this writing Gamer's Gate has the game for about 35% less than the other three sites.

I'm still not buying the whole 16 bit thing, let alone 32 or 64 bit There's no real improvement. It's just more bits. Good thing about staying 8bit is that I can use my Atari joystick between so many different 8bit machines.

Yeah, that was me joking on the first post here, this game looks to be crap in comparison.

I actually just beat Amnesia not 10 minutes ago. Watched the 3 endings and opened the Super_Secret.rar

Played the game for a total of 8.4 hours according to Steam and about 6 sessions or so. It actually seemed a bit longer than that but only because I played it over a few weeks.

Well, it's like everything else in the goddamned IT world. When 64 bit launched everyone was talking about how it was going to revolutionize gaming, and what do we see as usual? Zip.

I was just playing the demo for Amnesia. That's one freaky game. The water section is like aaahhhhh.

I now want to check out penumbra (made by the same dev). I remember hearing about it before but never looked into it. The video I watched of it looks freaky as hell too.

I don't expect haunted house to be anything like those two games as far as scary/freaky. The trailer shows it to be more cartoon action-ish. It still looks interesting though, even though my PC can't play it which is beyond lame. Guess I'll wait for the 360 version. :/

I finally saved up to upgrade(500$ for a full rig sans OS similar in spec to Tom's Hardware 500$ budget rig but with a bit more scalability) and I've been very happy with it. Biggest benefit is the extra ram, but everything else seems to run really well as well.

No 64 bit support? Too bad for them because I was going to buy this.

Think this is an action games so you fight back, not an adventure game like Amnesia.

The game also does not work on x64 systems. And before you say it will, it doesn't lol

Won't launch on my Vista 64 rig, and plenty of people are complaining already about it (even though the Steam page specifically says 32 bit only).

So it was announced in July and kicked out the door today?

This just screams rebranding a game with a throwback title...
