The Bible Online Launches

It's Genesis day for The Bible Online, as this browser-based real-time strategy game is now open for business. Word is: "Players can meet and play the real heroes of Genesis, Abraham and his descendants. The game is designed for users to actually experience the Book of Genesis by fulfilling quests of Abraham, which is based on the true stories of the Genesis. As a MMORTS, players are to lead their tribe, build buildings, maintain resources and engage in warfare with other tribes. However, players do not stay in one place, but will go on a quest to go to the Promised Land. Players will lead Abraham’s tribe from Ur to Haran and finally to Canaan."

This is my point - people are arguing over some ridiculous idea of a "cosmic vending machine" or that the world is only 7000 years old or some other kind of ridiculous bullshit. And while some people are stupid enough to believe this, others are stupid enough to mount arguments against it as if they are being "logical". Yeh, ok.

All of that really has nothing to do with the reason people write scriptures in the first place. This goes for any religion or tradition. For the vast majority of the public, there is a total disconnect with the reality of internal practice - and instead people look for literalism in myths and basically anything else to justify their own personal and societal neurosis. Or they use it as a means of political and economic control, by manipulating a group through their identification with some idea.

It works both ways - the arguments for or against religion are almost always about the personal issues motivating the argument.. it has nothing to do with an attempt to understand the codification of spiritual knowledge, or what that knowledge is, or the reason for doing it in the first place.

Everyone is blind to their identification with a particular idea or name or group. They ignore that they identify with it, because otherwise they couldn't fully invest themselves in whatever limited idea it is. Ignorance is the mechanism of the process for limiting the sense of being, by saying "I am" a "christian", or an "atheist", or a "scientist", or a "good guy", etc. etc. etc. To become aware of the process of identification is a kind of freedom from ignorance, and to remain in this awareness is a tangibly different life than being driven by motivations which originate from whichever group or idea you identify with, rather than within yourself.

And thats just one of many issues plaguing the unexamined life.

But it doesnt matter, because its all psychobabble bullshit, right? HAHAHA, yeh its not your problem. You've got it under control.
