Dungeons Interview

Enter the "Dungeons" with Realmforge Studios on GameZone is a brief Q&A about Dungeons with Christian Wolfertstetter, Creative Director on Realmforge Studios' upcoming subterranean strategy game. They kick things off with a clarification of how this game will differ from the similar-sounding Dungeon Keeper: "In Dungeon we’re focusing more on heroes than they did in DK. In DK they were more of a nuisance and sometimes a threat. In Dungeons, they are a threat but also the main resource in the game. Therefore many aspects of the game deal with heroes. For example your monsters don’t have any needs or necessities, they simply stand beside a spawn point and wait for heroes to arrive. You can say that we somewhat turned the tables. Instead of keeping your creatures happy, you keep your heroes happy (although with a sinister ending for them in mind)."

While I hope this game turns out well, I somehow suspect from this interview that it will pale in comparison to Dungeon Keeper 1.

Dungeon Keeper 1 was just too good, these guys should have just settled for remaking it with updated graphics, and pay any royalties as needed.
