PC Battlefield 1943 (Not) Released [Updated]

Though EA has been so tight-lipped about the status of the Windows edition of Battlefield 1943 that it raised concerns the game would never be released for PC, the EA Store is now offering the game via digital distribution. Here's word on the game: "It's time to do your part in the action packed battles of the World War II Pacific campaign! Pick your path - be it as a rifleman crawling the trenches, a steel fisted tank commander, or ace fighter pilot dog fighting to protect the skies. Play as a lone wolf or with your friends, coordinating to turn the tide of battle. Whatever you choose, you get to enjoy the thrill of a fully featured online shooter with the unique Battlefield gameplay." Thanks Matt. Update: Unfortunately, this all seems to be some sort of mix-up. Here's a tweet from EA explaining: "BF 1943 PC is not available. This is an error on EA store. We are working to sort it out."

Time for you PC-only gamers to experience this crapfest. Only fun thing was air superiority, but one map for a single gametype quickly led to its demise aswell.

Wow, I thought they would just cancel this for sure and I'm surprised they released it out of the blue with so little fanfare.

Shows here as $15. Wasn't it initially announced (long, long time ago) as $10?

It amazes me really. $15 for 2 and a half maps.

I think not, maybe for $7

QFT. This mode didn't unlock until a certain amount of kills or whatever was acheived across the platform. So once 500,000 kills were recorded on xbox live then you got to play that game mode. The 360 got that mode unlocked way ahead of the PS3. If they do that on the PC you could never see that game mode! (assuming very few people buy it)

Game gets old very fast. It's fun for a few hours then I doubt you'll ever play it again.

still under the category of "Coming Soon" on the main page (PC) for ea store, not released

so long as my ancient pre-order transaction goes through for $10 when I used a rebate code, I'll pick it up.

It's the Month of Undead Games apparently. First Duke Nukem, then Colonial Marines, now this. Any predictions on what may be next?

I'm guessing Warcraft Adventures.

I really enjoyed the game just because it was extremely quick to get into (what with it being an XBLA/PSN game and with quick matchmaking), and it was pretty fun to boot. I haven't seen any reason to play it since BC2, though.

Screw that. Tribes 3 in the vein of Tribes being developed by a reformed Dynamix studio

With Bad Company 2 out, an expansion for that on the way and Battlefield 3 confirmed to be in development one really wonders why they bothered.

More PC games = good though.

I have this on the 360, and it is a fun arcade game. Brings back some memories.....Probably will pass on the pc though. I think I got lucky and got it on sale for like 5.00.

Dice cares about PC gaming.

What's funny is that in the event that it does get released, they'll sell it $15 (as opposed to $10) and it'll only be a year late.

Makes sense to me! Now bring on the heavily ported Battlefield 3 for only $79.99 with monthly subscription service, running those (centrally controlled) dedicated servers aren't cheap you know!

Being a PC gamer has become a bad joke.
