Out of the Blue

Today is Labor Day in the US, an annual event surrounding the joys of work celebrated by most taking the day off, something we've pointed out before, not to belabor the point. I'm celebrating by working, of course, but I also plan to fire up the grill later, as we only made the Buffalo Wings the other day, so we still have some grass-fed ground beef for burgers. Mmmmm burgers.

I was excited when I saw this, I thought it was going to be a list like Bill Roper, John Romero, Derek Smart, etc.

That Goshawk footage is amazing, thanks for posting it.

The BBC Natural History Unit is probably the world's best in capturing the natural world, I've been hooked on their work ever since they made Life on Earth back in the late 70's.

If folks have $100 to spend, the BBC DVD series Planet Earth is absolutely mindblowing, grab a nice bottle of wine and enjoy it on a big HDTV set. Just gorgeous.

The footage of the hawks in flight was incredible.

Through the Winter here I noticed Sea gulls would fly up & down the main roads at peak hour circling for lift they gained from the hot engines of the idling cars.
Theres no question they were having fun, & no doubt enjoying the warmth.

Spectacular weather here in the northeast. I spent the last 2 evenings at the observatory, getting home no earlier than 4:00am both mornings, and the seeing was exceptional. I still have a few hundred megabytes of Jupiter images to process. I seem to recall Labor Day weekend last year being almost as spectacular. And to top it off, this week Samuel Adams Octoberfest is now available at my local beer store. This is rapidly becoming my favorite weekend of the year.
