Awww, that Atari article made me a bit misty. Love #4 and #1 respectively. They'd make cool cases to be sure.
"Van Gogh painted alone and in despair and in madness and sold one picture in his entire life. Millions struggled alone, unrecognized, and struggled as heroically as any famous hero. Was it worthless? I knew it wasn't."

#3 looks like the Atari 1450XLD or the 1400. They did make some, but not many, of them.

(another 1450 XLD page)

In case anyone else has no idea what a transforming Dpad is exactly:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDuz0rVDVYU

Why they'd make it transforming instead of permanently that way is another issue, who has ever said that the dpad on the 360 controller is anything other than junk?

Why not just go to a permanent dpad that everyone wants? Why the whole transform thing? Just make it like the transformed side all the time.

Last I knew, the reason was because Nintendo has the pure cross D-Pad configuration patented.

Why did they keep spinning the controller in that dumb video? I think I'm dizzy now.

Last I knew, the reason was because Nintendo has the pure cross D-Pad configuration patented.

I think that patent expired a year or two ago so hopefully future controller designs aren't hampered by it.

what was the transforming d-pad supposed to do? i dont get it. it just rotated in place. i thought it comes off. did it go from an 8-way dpad to a 4-way dpad for 10 bucks more than the non-transforming one?
