Valve Plans 3 "Big Surprises"

Valve is promising "at least" three "big surprises" over the next 12 months, reports Computer and Video Games based on an interview with Valve's Gabe Newell in the brand new print issue of PC Gamer UK. "I can guarantee you people are going to be surprised at stuff we do. That isn't going to stop any time soon. I'm just laughing because... people will be shocked again," Newell told PC Gamer. "We have three pretty big surprises in the next 12 months at least." Thanks joao.

L4D3 in November, Portal 2 delayed until 2013, HL2:Ep3 still on course for a 2016 closed beta.

Just my prediction.

Seriously, announcements to do with L4D3, Portal 2 and Episode 3 are all possible. The "Source 2" engine or something like that for these to run on might also pop up.

I take it, one will be a new Half-Life (Main moneymaker)
Followed by a source game of sorts, L4D (good bet)or something similar.(might even be that Movie they are attempting to make themselves)
then a NEW ENGINE... cause they don't want to fall to far behind ID, or Epic.

That's most likely one of the "surprises." Erik Johnson of Valve was saying that they weren't going to announce anything related to the engine at E3, but a "technology related announcement" would come later in the year.

Makes sense too. Source 1 for HL2; Source 2 for HL3.

We admit that the episodic idea didn't pan out as expected, that's why we've taken a new dynamic shift with the Half-Life series! No more Episode 3, say hello to Half-Life: Mine Craft (pt1)! Now you can play in a dynamic open world while we take half a lifetime to make the next installment!

Gordon Freeman finds himself in a strange Xen landscape, where he'll need to craft crowbars and other useful items and weapons to survive the night.

If any company could take it and do an amazing job, it would be Valve. I wouldn't be against this, however unlikely!

I would bet whatever the next Half-Life is it has multiplayer, which is one of the big surprises. I'm pretty sure Valve view multiplayer through Steamworks as what keeps their piracy numbers in check.

"L4D3 will be released in Nov 2010"

That's the first, the second is, "L4D4 will be released in October 2010."

The third will be, "We've cancelled the Half-Life franchise, we are focusing our efforts on continually putting L4D in new boxes with incremental numbers."

Seriously, I love Valve, I do. I think all gamers do. But we are all dying for something HL related, and it seems like they are everywhere but there.

HL2 ep3 (or just hl3). L4d3, since a year was kinda short between releases last time, this time it will be 14 months.
And what else...
