Out of the Blue [Aug 23, 2010, 09:23 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
MrsBlue noticed some water had entered one of the bins where I have charcoal for the grill as well as some bagged ashes and other barbeque detritus. Since some of it was damp, she laid it out to dry on the lawn on Saturday. As luck would have it, we had what seemed like a monsoon all day yesterday, so all the paper involved has gone from being slightly damp to being so drenched that it will never dry, while the charcoal briquettes actually dissolved. Oops.

I managed to make it through more than a quarter century of being an amateur astronomer without seeing more than a half-dozen or so of his segments. I think the segments were too short to occupy a slot in the TV listings so I was never able to find it. The few times I stumbled across it in recent years it was on at a million o'clock in the morning, when I would have either been out observing or asleep.

Wow, good thing i checked bluesnews tonight before i went to bed. I remember seeing the stargazer show as a kid. He ranks up there with Mr. rogers when it comes to watchin the tv long ago. It's hard to see people from child memories pass away. See ya on the other side Jack!! 
Jack Horkheimer: The Star Hustler! I really hope they get someone to continue his weekly stargazer updates, I'd sorta feel lost without them.

Well its nice to hear you guys are getting some rain & may actually be giving up Summer.
Tell me things like the leaves are starting to turn, theres dew on the grass etc. It would be like seasonal porn to my ears right now as we shiver through August.

I was not aware she left it out, and we went to the home of friends for dinner on Saturday night, so I only discovered the situation late Sunday morning when I looked out the window.
