I have no problem with PC games being ported to consoles. Problems arise when PC games are compromised by their presence on consoles, though, as developers usually cater to the lowest common denominator. This why 360 is typically the lead platform in any multiplatform game and why the strengths of the PC are rarely taken advantage of.

At this point in time, potions are in the game and they've been slightly WoW'ified. I at no time since the games' announcement recall any statement that potions were gone, though I admit I haven't read every single Bashiok blue post or read absolutely every Jay Wilson interview.

Agreed that it would be a mistake not to bring it over, from the business side of things, as long as it does not come at the expense of the PC version. In other words, removing features from the PC version because they wouldn't work in the console version. Sure they're designing it as a PC only game right now (as far as we know), that definitely does not mean that things won't change and that sacrifices will have to be made.

Sacred 2 did a really good job of bringing ARPG to consoles.
As for Diablo 3, when they announced potions were gone and you would instead run over things on the ground, that clearly made me think that was a console friendly change. I think it would be exremely bad busniess not to make it for the consoles. Especially considering the next gen of consoles will be virtually as impressive as most middle to high end self made PCs. The tech cieling is here... and consoles, like laptops, are catching up every generation.

Though fighters as a whole are a niche genre, MK is in an even smaller niche compared to Tekken and Street Fighter. Hell, even compared to Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, and Tatsunoko they're small. The 90s are gone.

Where are you getting this nonsense from? MK vs DC sold 1.9 million units (http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1022080/000095015209003529/c50336e10vk.htm). MK is one of the most mainstream videogame series out there. Jagged Alliance is niche. MK is not.

You may not like MK but that bears no relevance to this argument.

Except for the fact that Mortal Kombat is one of the most well-known franchises in the world. If they can make Capcom vs SNK, Marvel vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat vs DC, Tekken vs Street Fighter, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and X-Men vs Street Fighter, I'm pretty sure they could do MK vs Street Fighter.

I couldn't disagree more.
Anytime a game is done on multiple platforms, you program for the lowest perfoming item.....and that is the console.

If they want to do that. Program 100% for the pc, then port it over.

Diablo would be fine on the consoles, it's not exactly a demanding game. The only way the PC version would be impacted is if the Wii was the lead platform. By the time Diablo 3 comes out we will have new consoles anyways which means better hardware and thus it probably wouldn't impact development of the PC version.

It was actually on-track at one point, but red tape killed it and Capcom ended up going with Marvel.

That being said, please don't try and turn every Blizzard IP into console games because most of them simply don't work.
I don't see how. I mean, for melee characters you could use a stick to attack in directions fine, but using abilities that require targeting would suck.

They did it rather clumsily with Sacred 2 so it can be done. I'm sure it could be something dumb like hold down RB to turn the cursor into placement mode or something. Better yet they could actually use the motion peripherals for something like this instead of Just Dance Hero 3: You're Casual. Anyways it could be done, maybe not done to perfection but good enough that people would buy it.

Am I the only one who remembers Diablo for the PSone? It really wasn't a bad port considering they were able to bring most of the features over including the randomly generated levels, mashing a keyboard on a controller and coop.

I would much rather them focus on the PC side of things but not a lot has changed since the first Diablo formula so I wouldn't be surprised if, somewhere down the line, a port was released.

You know, when they are going to put 'Can Be Done' in quotations, you'd expect that someone from Blizzard actually said that it 'Can Be Done', as opposed to saying 'would be the easiest'. But, then, I don't write sensationalist headlines for a living. Luckily, the same quote includes 'it's not something we're pursuing right now', so I'm not worried about it in the least.

Except Diablo 3 would work great on consoles and would sell millions. Blizzard should definitely do console versions!
