Mafia II Trailer

The "Tools of the Trade" Trailer (NSFW) from Mafia II offers a cinematic look at 2K Czech's imminent open-world action sequel. The trade in this case, of course, is crime, and hence the tools are guns, and many virtual bullets are fired in this clip. The embedded version follows.

Isn't this like the 8th time this particular trailer has been released?

I'm truly surprised how much I liked this demo. Never played the original, and the sequel was kinda until the radar for me until the demo hit. I checked Steam the other day, and I've played <the demo> something like 111 minutes...

I did play the original but I can't even remember it anymore. Mafia 2 however is an awesome game and I can't wait to play it.

Mafia 1 was a fantastic game with a gripping story line. Mafia 2 looks like they are really upping their game with awesome game play, great graphics & hopefully another amazing story. I've already pre-ordered the game it is an instant buy for me.

The in game AA is horrid.
I got AA working on GTX 480 with full scene 4x SGSAA and it looks amazing, the way it really was meant to look.
It absolutely changed the game impact for me outdoors, it was that significant.

It took me a long time to find the one combination that got AA working full scene for me, I hope they either fix their AA or don't break the workaround I found in the final release.

I actually had to mix in game AA and a couple NVIDIA profile hacks to get SGSAA working (some text strings).
If anyone with similar HW is interested, let me know.

I have this funny feeling with Mafia2 that there are things behind the curtain that I should wait and see before getting to into it. The one thing that was a bit of a let down, after a few plays, was realizing the cops offered very little actual challenge in game while driving or on foot, in my experiences.
There is a lot to like, I just want to see a little more of what what is actually under the skirt, I don't like those kinds of surprises.

I haven't played a game in a long time. I'm getting old and have grown sick of the same old - same old being regurgitated over and over. The last game I played and enjoyed was Fallout 3. I tried Badlands and thought it sucked...entertaining cut-scenes and flashy npc introductions, but otherwise, been there done that...yawn. The fact that everyone seemed to rave about it made me think my PC gaming days were over. In fact, I pretty much only visit this site for the "Out Of The Blue" section (which is usually fascinating and/or good for a laugh). Yeah I know, I'm a big old downer with a soggy diaper.

However, reading about Mafia II has suddenly changed my outlook. I'm totally F###ing pumped about this game! Mafia 1 was an absolute treasure of a game created by people who obviously know how to entertain and is without a doubt one of the very best PC games ever made...at least in my opinion. Old jalopies, tommy-guns and an open bustling city are just the bee's knees. I would buy this sequel even if it was merely a mod of the first title with a new story. This is one case where even regurgitation would be delicious....yum yum. I can't wait to get my stiff wrinkly hands on this baby!

Some console mags are giving it 8 and 7 out of 10.

Hmm, will wait to hear from fellow gamers before investing on this game for the PC even though I've enjoyed the demo.

I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I played the demo. I liked it, but, with other new games coming out and having bought so many games on sale, I'm tempted to wait for this one to drop in price while I play catch up.

The main game I'm looking forward to this year is Fallout New Vegas, which I've already pre-ordered. I just got Metro 2033 free with the video card I bought last month. I'm going to finish it, then try to squeeze in another play of Fallout 3 before New Vegas comes out.

If I buy Mafia II now at full price, it will no doubt drop in price by the time I get around to playing it. If I do wait, I just hope they will still be offering the first Mafia game bundled with it.

I'm in the same boat as nin. The demo really made a believer out of me and I was pretty worried. I'll be picking this up at launch for sure. If nothing else, the music and visuals have me sold alone. I'd assume the console mags aren't giving it stellar scores because it's got more depth than what console players are used to...one can only hope anyway.

I am SO pumped about this game - but I have SO MANY games to play that are just sitting there - I also got wrapped back into Borderlands, Fallout 3, and the GTA series.

I really want to buy this when I get back from Vegas this weekend....but I think I am going to wait for it to drop in price. I just don't have the time to invest in ANOTHER game. Which is a bummer. I am doing pretty well at knocking out older games though.

Although, playing 8.5 hours straight of borderlands the other night was hella fun! I don't know what all the fuss is - I really enjoy the game, and I haven't even touched the DLC yet. I enjoy exploring, etc. Which is why it is taking me so damn long in Fallout 3. I enjoy every little nook and cranny. I enjoy talking to everyone and exploring everything. Same with GTA. It is fun to just lose yourself in the game. When HOURS and HOURS go by at the blink of an eye (like the other night with Borderlands) I really feel like the game is worth it and I got my money out of it. Truly entertaining.

This game is going to be fan-fucking-tastic I'm guessing, if a bit short. Just waiting on a few more parts to show up to put together my new rig and hopefully that'll be before this game is out.

I was the same way with Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
Borderlands not so much, since I didn't really enjoy the combat.

Great post, though.

i have a very strong feeling this will be quite the short game overall

its not really an "open world" game, with all kinds of side diversions.. its more like a linear game inside an open world map

still it looks like a solid rental for me, the demo was pretty fun - i especially like how it only takes a couple bullets to kill anyone

Oh man, for those of you that haven't played the original, get with the program, an absolutely amazing game. A little dated in the graphics department, but still great gameplay and story, and hard as hell.

Q&A - http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1018260#post1018260

Gamer - 15. Will the PS3 have less screen tearing/jaggies because of the graphical details removed?

Publisher - For all versions of the game, the demo is largely representative of the final build of the game. There may be slight improvements that you notice for all these issues, but overall, you should judge the demo as you would the final game.

Well, the pc version runs awesome, I'll say that. A little jaggy, but nothing showstopping...

I had the demo running on my PC and on the 360, I was switching the monitor back and forth in between the two and the graphical differences in between the two in 1080p res., are like night and day. The PC version far superior, and it runs very smooth.

I am not a big fan of the mouse and keyboard combo for this game in particular, but I have a 360 controller plugged in my PC, makes the driving a lot easier.

I can't wait for the full game to come out, got it preordered already, for the PC of course

I switched to the 360 controller for everything, and it seems to fit the game well.
