Operation Flashpoint: Red River Announcement

Codemasters follows the recent revelation of Operation Flashpoint: Red River with the official announcement of the next installment in the military shooter series, which is expected for release next year. Here's word:
Building extensively on the successes of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, Red River brings wide-ranging advancements including a deeper narrative-led campaign, streamlined inventory and control system, a refined enemy and squad AI system, player class roles including customisable XP upgrades and loadout choice, close-quarters combat, new air support options and comprehensive tutorials.

“Operation Flashpoint: Red River is being built around four player co-op online play, complete with a strong narrative, new enemies and combat scenarios to deliver gameplay that immerses players in the reality of war like never before. The new setting of Tajikistan is a diverse and exciting backdrop for the wide range of military challenges the US Marines face around the world in real life. We’re excited to push the series in new directions while staying true to the core tactical combat that is the hallmark of Operation Flashpoint,” said Sion Lenton, Creative Director.

You're an idiot. Apparently you have never seen a real engagement where they communicate enemy soldiers at 3 o'clock and their distance in meters, All the iron sights and scopes that have all that writing on them for the compensated distance, ACTUALLY work.

Surf you can stick to Dragon Rising and Call of Duty to get your action movie fix.

I'll keep my true military sim, and by the looks of the user community I think they will continue to play too..

too bad nobody plays the new OF DR.... oh yea because it sucks like you.

this. first off if you want to judge the game based upon the voice acting, then you must hate a lot of games. secondly, the Arma series is developed in the Czech republic by a dozen guys in an attic, I'd say they did a hell of a job considering.
there isn't a single person I play Arma with that keeps the voices turned up.

also i'm damn near positive that there isn't a single audio file that uses the word "degrees"in the entire game.
kill streaks do not make for a good game, bunny hop on home, sonny.

One of the big selling points Codemasters has made in the previews is that the sequel will add aim assist and be more like CoD.

I am so glad to see my assumption that you have to have an IQ somewhere in the negative numbers to even be in any of the armed forces.

After all our government HASN'T done for our vets.
After treating our soldiers like crap.
After lying to our soldiers.
After having our soldiers "fight" for something when in reality it has been murder (NAM, Gulf, current war)

I mean you truly have to be a complete and total brainwashed dumb fuck to even CONSIDER any part of the armed forces.

I know, I know, booo, hiss, unpatriotic surf, we die for you to be able to say that.

Uh, ya, your actions in all these wars gave me SO much freedom. Please, that shit was already in place long before the armed forces arrived.

over hill over dale,

OFP:DR was such a steaming pile, the sequel will just be more of the same. To compare this to the Arma series is like comparing farmville to simcity, two entirely different products with entirely different targeted demo-graphs. OFP (I hate to even use the acronym as it does a incredible disservice to the original that BIS wrote btw) will go to the armchair soldiers who want something bigger than a MW2 map. Arma (1+2+OA) targets those who want to simulate an actual combined arms engagement. The two are so far apart from each other it's ridiculous, and it is a shame that codemasters is going to try again with that name.
Stick to driving games CM, you do a great job there. leave the shooters to those who have already done it and done it well

I AM part of an elite fighting force that was made up by Tom FUCKING CLANCY!!!!

I've used guns that haven't even been invented yet. So why don't you army and marine guys go crawl back to your mommies?!

That sir, is not entirely true. Apparently the rest of the armed forces can be deployed to two wars without Congress actually declaring it. Hence the quagmire that we are in in right now Central and eastern Asia.

All in all, considering your vehemence over this matter I do apologize for jumping to conclusions. There are just too many kiddies on the internet that claim to have worn a uniform of this nation when in reality the only uniform that they have ever worn is from Taco Bell.

Any way you slice it, we were on the same team and this Marines vs Army thing has been going on since LOOOOONG before either of our times.
Funny thing is, I initially enlisted in the Marines and was convinced to do otherwise by Vietnam combat Marines, including one who started in the Marines and completed 30 more years in the Army officer corps (my uncle who incidentally swore me in at MEPS). Good thing too, I was slated to go in as a chemical weapons specialist. Instead I joined the Field Artillery as a MLRS crewmember (STEEEL RAIN!!) You just haven't seen a boom till you see a launcher fire in person.

They are a part of the Navy, but you all need to get your facts straight. The Marines are the only force that can be called into action by the President without having to go through Congress first. He can order the Marines into action and explain his actions afterwards. The Army, Navy or Air force cannot.

Which is why the Marines are called the Presidents own. You wont find the Army guarding the President, Marines and Marines only have that Honor.

This little dick waving contest between Darks and RumpleForeSkin is truly disgraceful toward the branches of service they're claiming to have served in.

Can you guys knock it off already? I've known some decent Army folk and a couple of Marines that I'd call passably human.

Though, I do have to give Rumple credit for being correct that the Marines are, in point of fact, an adjunct attachment of the United States Navy. Though you'll never hear a squid, bubblehead or aviator claim it, they are.

Actually the Marines answer to the Dept of the Navy. So you are clearly mistaken.
Failures of the Army?
one word:
Beruit

you bring up Somalia but failed to acknowledge that it was a Marine general who commanded that clusterfuck, and backed down from his superiors when he needed more for his troops.
Know History before bringing it up you supposedly brainwashed moron.

How could anyone get burned on Dragon Rising? It was obviously positioned between COD and ARMA. I am glad they are continuing the series. I am an ARMA junkie, but I hope that one day codemasters will put out a product that blows ARMA away with their accumulated experience.

Good luck on Red River!

No asshole, the proper term is, the Marines start Wars, and the Army cleans up what we leave behind. The Today’s Army is a joke, you guys try to be all you can be but you all forgot what you’re supposed to be.

The Marines are the only force in the US arsenal that is commanded by the President, not the Army or the Air force. We have our own ships, planes and Helos and combat fighting force. We are a self sustaining force and feared though out the world. The Army is laughed at. No one fears them. Marines lead, the army follows. You remember that asshole.

When the Army goes to boot camp it’s more like going to boy’s camp, they get weekend passes and days off. Not the Marines, come to San Diego or Paris Island and watch Marines train and you will see the difference immediately. As I said the Army is a joke and their training is a prime example of that.

Now excuse me, but I have better things to do than sit here bagging on the Army and their failures as a fighting force.

that is exactly the response I expected.
Guess what. the Marines are an irrelevant fighting force in the modern world. go back to protecting boats and let the Army do the actual fighting.
Marines start wars
the Army Wins wars.
the Marines were so bad ass that they HAD A MINIMAL ROLE IN THE LARGEST AMPHIBIOUS LANDING TO EVER HAPPEN.

Why were they in the Pacific only? Well the US can't have bloodthirsty sociopaths killing white people now can they.
Army Dog and proud BOW FUCKING WOW.
you cannot steal nor deface MY honor, you seem very willing to deface the Honor of all of those Marines who fell before us, but there will be a reckoning, that is for sure.

Hey RumpleForeSkin, you can kiss my ass, you piece of shit army dog. I served from 1986 to 1998. in the Marines and I got the paper work to back that up so call yourself out asshole you don’t know me or a fucking thing about me.
And yea this is the Marine now coming out in me calling you out. Anytime any place you piece of shit low life Army fuck! Anytime you want to call Marine Headquarters Quantico Virginia and look me up, please do. Just because I used the word “Was” in past tense does not mean I’m still not a Marine at heart you low life fuck!

You all know why they call the Marines in first? That’s because the fucking Army can’t get the job done. They lack the training and the skill, just look at the shit fuck fiasco in Somalia. The army at their best!
