The retail and GFWL versions always worked on the Steam version, and neither has any DRM. This release is solely for the people who never buy anything anywhere other than Steam, which shockingly and sadly is starting to be a big number.

Oh look, it's StingingVelvet continuing his private Steam crusade while lamenting the negativity of PC gamers elsewhere.

Hint: Not wanting to use a stupid point system in order to purchase DLC =/= never buying anything anywhere other than Steam. Real currency > 800 MS points any. day. of. the. week. Not to mention the hoops you have to jump through just to *get* to that point.

They were at retail too, using real money. And you can buy points in dollar increments making the MS system not that bad.

My personal "crusade" against Steam is not the root issue here, the issue is people who only buy from one store and then expect to be catered to... that's just dumb.

I've just spent 32hrs on Fallout 3 GOTY edition only to have my hard-drive fail. Now it looks like I'll have to RMA it and it's likely the data won't be returned.

Yeah, I don't know why you had "game breaking bugs," as even the vanilla versions worked fine for me. But as Dev said, the mods enhanced the gameplay and fixed issues that other people had.

I'll hrab these when they bundle them all for 5 or 10 bucks, but that's it.

Fortunately because of the mod tools, its possible to fix some bugs in the game. I used to do it a lot with Morrowind (like if an NPC got stuck in a loop, I could check his script and fix it).

Anyway, I didn't find game breaking bugs in FO3 vanilla. Once I added mods, sometimes I'd get a crash, but quitting FO3 every few hours and starting it again seemed to keep everything going good (I'm thinking memory leak of some sort)

Yes, bethesda shoulda done more testing, but I've had a lot of fun with the game, and I've known others IRL who did as well. Like hundreds of hours fun.

Oh gee. NOW you offer it on Steam.

Yeah, no reason it should have taken this long. But I still got a better deal when the GOTY version was sale for $25 awhile back.

Why is this shocking and sad again? Doesn't it mean that everyone gets what they want?

So if you had the steam version, would you have been able to use the retail versions of the DLC? I always get confused on how this all works and I stick with buying the actual game from the store still because of this.

Oh gee. NOW you offer it on Steam. Where was this when I really didn't want to buy anything on GFWL?
