Star Trek Online Ship Architect [Jul 15, 2010, 10:45 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The Star Trek Online Forums announce the launch of the Star Trek Online Architect, offering the chance to design your own starships, and win prizes: "We've partnered with Intel to create the Star Trek Online Architect, a web-based ship building game, hosted here on the Star Trek Online website. Head over to the Architect section of the site, create and assemble your own ship, and enter a sweepstakes to win a replica TOS captain's chair, Intel processors and copies of Star Trek Online!" There's no indication these designs will be used in the game. They also have a ship shaper game.

Played the beta and enjoyed it. Bought it when it went live, played for a week and got bored. Not sure why but.....meh...

STO is a bit repetitive, but I don't mind because the space combat is just so much damn FUN. Never before have I played a MMO where the gameplay was even half as entertaining as it is in STO.
Towards the end of this month they're going to release new content including diplomatic missions too, which will let players level up without fighting through diplomacy and first contact scenarios.

It's usually the Rule of 3. It's a simple game design formula. Kill X amount of enemies Y amount of times.
In STO's case, it was always 3 groups of 3 ships in space, go to planet and kill, usually, 5 groups of 5 guys. Then, you'll go back to space and kill 3 more groups of 3 ships.
You could see it in almost every single mission.

For a moment I thought they added something awesome but this appears to be a ship selector....all these ships are already in the game I believe? And it's 2D?
It would be awesome to be able to design unique ships that could be added to the game. One of my favorite parts of the game was getting to the next rank and playing with the new ship designs, I'd buy each ship and sit there for an hour playing with all the different combination's.
Would have been cool if they put all the new ships plus the existing in a 3D web page like that and let people look at them and have all the options you have in game.
