I dug Predators. A LOT. Of course, I'm a guy who thinks the original Predator with The 'Governator' is cinematic masterpiece. Citizen Kane? Meh.
It has a very similar theme to the original, with the best parts of the 2nd movie thrown in. (Except for Morton Downey - unfortunately he isn't in there.
) It has lots of nods to memorable bits in the first, and the cast is pretty strong across the board. The plot is barely there (then again, if you expect any different from this type of movie you are by definition NOT the target audience) but the action is good without being overdone.
My biggest gripe was the inclusion of Larry 'Morpheus' Fishburne. The guy is a stellar actor and all, but would a lone survivor on a hostile alien world still have moobs visible through a loose shirt after 10 years of scavenging and fighting to survive?
Other than that minor gripe, it's all good. Even if you thought the 2 AvP movies were total pants (I always found them to be better than they are made out to be myself), this movie is a must see for a sci-fi, action, or Predator universe fan imo.
