Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Details

Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson's new podcast chats with Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling about the just announced Resurgence map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Shacknews highlights the most relevant revelations, which are that two of the maps will be remakes of Vacant and Strike from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, while the other three maps will be Carnival, a "desolated amusement park," which they say is "complete with a rollercoaster, world of tomorrow and fun house," Fuel, described as a "sniper haven," and Trailer Park, which is "a maze" with "super tight corridors." Word is this will be 1200 MS points ($15.00 USD) when it hits Xbox 360 on June 3, with the PC and PS3 releases to follow.

Or 23 but through chance, circumstance, or a little bit of planning managed to experience PC gaming (and arcade gaming) as if you were 35+.

I've parsed more "examine <entity>" than probably anyone in my age group.

I love people that claim to be old, then when told someone is older they call them grandpa.

The age card and longevity card are entirely moot here. We've all been doing this forever.

So, you've not encountered any people who have hacked to 10th level prestige and gotten the spinning skull icon? They are exploiting loopholes/bugs in the system.

No, I have not. Not saying it doesn't exist but I certainly haven't encountered it. Or, if I did, it went by unnoticed by me and so I'd have to say it had little, if any, impact on my enjoyment of the game. In any case, exploiting loopholes and bugs is hardly unique to MW2.

Edit:

Did a quick search and found this - http://tinyurl.com/ycrsha3

It appears as if the issue you're describing has been fixed.

Then they must not have bothered to fix it on the PC, or claimed they fixed and it didn't. Because when I tried the free weekend I saw tons of people with that. Basically many of the people at 10th prestige and pretty much anyone with spinning skull emblem have hacked the game.

My apologies grandpa. One thing I've learned in my 30 years. No use arguing with old people. You'll die before me anyway.

I doubt that. When I picture you nerd-raging at your computer, I envision a stressed-out, overweight, greasy-haired, slob sitting with a half-eaten pizza and 2-liter bottle of Coke furiously typing out his anger in some dark, musty basement in his parent's house. Hardly the picture of health.

I'm hardly a "Kid", I may have been a kid when Nintendo came out, which I was. And I've been playing FPS games since my early teens with the original Wolf3D and Doom.

Ah, I see. So you just act like a kid by acting like a little punk when others don't agree with you. All the more pathetic of you then.

I'm sorry that you were retarded enough to buy MW2, maybe if you had spent the last 2 decades gaming on a PC like I have...

I'm sorry that your immature little self has to resort to name calling. For such a grown up you sure like to stomp your feet a lot. For the record, I've been gaming since the original Pong. So please, spare me your gaming "credentials". I'm hardly impressed.

...you would have been more offended by having an amazing series stripped down for Console fanboys and overcharged for on the PC.

You were offended and you expressed your dissatisfaction by not buying MW2. Unfortunately, you're such a child that you need to deride others who don't feel and act like you do. My 5-year-old son gets like that as well. Fortunately, my 12-year-old grew out of that kind of behavior so I'm not too concerned. Kind of embarrassing behavior for a self-proclaimed "adult" such as yourself.

If you actually support being fucked in the ass by a gaming company...

Wow, you got fucked in the ass? No wonder you're so hostile.

One thing I've learned in my 40+ years, the louder the bark, the smaller the dog. Time to grow up, kid.

We just think you're all idiots for paying 90 dollars for the game

I paid $60. You see, no one actually forced me to buy any map packs. So, I think you're an idiot for making false assumptions.

So yeah, enjoy your 90 dollar multiplayer game with bugs that will never be fixed since everyone who matters at IW left

Once again, $60. And playing on the PS3 I've yet to encounter any bugs. But yes, I understand that I am wrong for liking the game as much as I do.

Ah, I should've realized I was debating with a 12-year-old. Carry on, Junior.

lol $15 for 5 maps?

Good ole activision soaking people for as much as they will pay. Its clear now why they didn't want dedicated servers in MW2 or people making custom maps.

Contrast that to games like TF2 where they give you maps for free.

BTW, this is a smart business move, tons of people are willing to shell out cash for this, heck they'd probably pay $5 a map ($25 for the pack). That doesn't mean I have to like it. That also doesn't mean I can't look at the move with contempt.

I enjoyed MW2 also... had a good 50 hours into the game with SP and MP combined. But I can't bring myself to play it now, let alone pay 5 dollars a new map.

Sounds like you got your money's worth, so why does your pussy hurt? I don't get it. If you don't want the map packs don't buy them. Simple.

When the original MW cost 50 bucks, had dedicated servers, and had a free map pack. Hell even World at War was 50 bucks, had zombie nazi mode, and had was it 2 or 3 map packs? including new maps for the nazi zombie mode.

So yeah, enjoy your 90 dollar multiplayer game with bugs that will never be fixed since everyone who matters at IW left, roflcakes.

So if someone plays the game for 200 hours, and pays $90...how is that a ripoff? Just saying.

Would it be better to buy four other games at $50 each and only get 20 hours each out of them, for a total of 80 hours? 200 hours for $90 or 80 hours for $200. Who's the idiot again?

Derail

Favela
Highrise
Invasion
Quarry
Rundown
Rust
Scrapyard
Skidrow
Sub Base
Substation
Terminal
Underpass
Uprise
Wasteland

That is the original maplist. That would be 17 maps, 16 if you don't include Rust which isn't really played other than on splitscreens. Assuming you only bought MW2 for the multiplayer, which most people I know did(consoles), that comes down to $3.75 a map. These map packs are only $3 a map. Only thing I don't like about these packs are that they remodel old maps exactly how they were but sell them for the same price as the new ones, unless you count the new maps at $3.75 a piece. Then the other 2 come down to $3.75 total, which is justifiable. The pricing really isn't that outrageous, but I do agree it should be lowered to about $10.

What they should really allow, however, is custom maps created by users. The loss of this in recent games has been really detrimental.
