It is most definitely not a "great game". It is a pile of shit. The reviews and community feedback confirm it.

I won't be buying it until the DRM is removed. I want to support submarine simulations and always have in the past but I have to draw the line somewhere on what is acceptable.

Could you explain that a little more? I don't follow...these fixes were in and then they cut them out without saying anything or is it a wish list and they just haven't done it? Confused

I've done some more reading and apparently some of these made it in but just aren't documented, such as the import of ships (which while there, has a host of issues if I understand correctly). Many things, like the shadows, are still borked.

There's a very insightful thread on the go at subsim's SH5 forum

Then there's a list of important fixes like improved AI, shadows, the ability to import SH4 ships and more that mysteriously disappeared from the change log.

It is inexcusable that the same bugs from 3 and 4, and in some cases previously fixed bugs, are still present in this game.

Then there's a list of important fixes like improved AI, shadows, the ability to import SH4 ships and more that mysteriously disappeared from the change log.

Unless I see a radical departure in support and customer service, this is my last Silent Hunter game. These guys have had years to fix big issues and they're still there.

Oh...look, they patched stuff that was already fixed in Silent Hunter 4. How quaint.

I don't believe anyone that posts that DRM is not or has not affected the game. They are ostriches--plain and simple.

Yup, take a gander at Subsim.com for a good look at all the mods available. And then, when you're done there (if you don't already know), head over to SimHQ for some more info in the forums. They seem to be the places to be at the moment, aside from the official forums...

There's plenty of modding happening and the game is already even more enjoyable due to the mods. There's a very small group that won't buy due to DRM and honestly that's not holding back development at all.

I love these games & have it sitting on my desk. Is this getting as much MOD support as the previous versions of the game? I LOVED the MODs for this IP!

FYI, non-EU people can update the game via the in game updater. Here's a quick copy/paste from the subsim.com forum:

You should just start your game to update it. If that doesn't work, run gu.exe from C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Support\GameUpdater

If you're using the Steam version, I think you'll just have to wait. Lots of people saying it won't update yet...
