Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition

The Bethesda Blog outlines plans for a Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition to be released along with the standard editions of the upcoming Fallout RPG. Word is: "North Americans can pre-order at any participating retailer — like GameStop — starting today. European pre-orders will be available throughout Europe in the weeks to come." There will be Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 editions of the game, which will offer the following.

  • Seven “Lucky 7” poker chips, each designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.

  • A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas.

  • A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38” platinum chip.

  • A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads” that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.

  • ‘The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

Good to know, Wowbagger.

I remember when Fallout 3 on Steam came out and there were some issues with mods. I guess they got sorted. I should look into it.

I won't get the Steam version because I don't know if it'll work with the mods that require fose.
As far as I remember, FOSE works with the Steam version. It's D2D you need to avoid since that encrypts the files.

I'll never watch the "making of" DVD so that's useless to me.

The graphic novel might be good. The poker chips sound cheap. Caravan might be fun. I dunno... I think I'll wait and see if they do vendor exclusive editions like Fallout 3 did.

I won't get the Steam version because I don't know if it'll work with the mods that require fose.

There were 3 versions for Fallout 3.

Regular
Collectors
Survival Edition

I actually have Collectors and Survival and the Survival sells for $49 now on Amazon, they still have them.

Only diff between Collectors and Survival was the Pip Boy 3000 alarm clock which actually fits on your forearm. Both have the game and the lunch box with bobble head.

Not bad for $50.

Needless to say I was really into F3 and am also a nut over Stalker having the Russian and Euro collectors versions bought of Ebay.

I think it is cool when companies really go out of their way to make these versions. Most of the best ones are sold in Europe and not here too which sucks.

Yeah I bought the original CE just for the bobblehead too - I look at his bobbling head as I type - but 20 bucks for a deck of cards, a comic and a few poker chips? Enh, no thanks. They should have thrown in a flask, like one of those Vault 13 water flasks from the original game. Now that would be worth buying.

I guess it's OK, but it's not really compelling - at least for me. My favorite thing (and the only thing I've looked at since the first day I got it) from the original collector's edition was the bobble head. He has a special place on my desk. I can't see that being the case with any of this stuff.

A decent bit of swag, but 70 bucks is a bit pricey...

Not a bad looking CE. Hope it's not $99.99 like some other CE is selling for...

edit: Not sure if I should be happy it's only $79.99 or $69.99 if you go PC.
