QUAKE LIVE Beta Updated "Premium" Plans Revealed

The Bethesda Blog has word that the QUAKE LIVE Beta has been updated, surprising in that we did not know that the free online version of QUAKE III Arena was still in beta. This change list outlines the new player invite system, and more. Here's word that indicates a "premium" version of the game is indeed in the cards:
One feature of our upcoming Premium Service known as ‘Start a Match’ is currently in private testing and allows for leagues and players to start servers for other players to join. This update brings new features to the Start a Match capabilities, including the ability to start servers without passwords, the ability to restrict servers by player invite and the ability to specify a custom map rotation.

I wonder if Carmack and the others still have actual creative control.

I hate it when these companies have to report in to corporate HQ. Damned suits aren't capable of overseeing game development; they don't have any first-hand experience with game playing thus cannot tell people what makes a good game.

Lol, there are even gamers who wouldn't be good at this!

Bethesda? What have they got to do with it? Seems I've missed something really obvious here

Bethesda (or more exactly Zenimax the parent company) owns id Software now.

Private servers! This is exactly what we wanted about a month ago when we used it for some office gaming, but didn't have enough people to completely fill the server.
