More Infinity Ward Departures

Kotaku reports rumors of a couple of additional developer departures at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward. They quote "sources close to the studio" telling them that programmer Rayme Vinson and lead artist Chris Cherubini have left the studio, and they have a confirmation from Cherubini that he has resigned. This follows the departures of lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti and the resignations of programmer Jon Shiring and designer Mackey McCandlish.

That question coming from you is both ironic and hilarious but sure - http://kotaku.com/5487038/battlefield-bad-company-2-players-prefer-pc-to-console

The PC sales from the console versions are heavily impacting the console figures. The game sold 2.3m copies in the first two weeks alone. It doesn't take a genius to do some NPD math and come up with at least 1 mil in PC sales and thats not taking into account worldwide sales.

Do you REALLY need an answer on that one?

This is one of the worst posts ever made on these forums and yes I'm taking Derek Smart posts into account when I say that.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the bonus payouts were to occur on or near April 1 in one of the news pieces linked on Blue's. That was arounfd the time i made the remark about being surprised if there was an exodus...it didn't occur immediately. I forgot to account for the normal "2-week notice" which rolled around the beginning of this week.

that makes sense. maybe the IW employees did get their bonuses before leaving the company. i hope none of the guys signed anything on the exit interview that pertains to the lawsuit.

As to the whole MW/BFBC debate, honestly, I thought the first BFBC had the best story of them all. I wish it had made it to the PC, as it was a blast, even with the console limits. BFBC2 just felt smaller and more restrictive. The MP is way better, though. As far as MW2, it was almost the opposite: MW1 was bigger and didn't feel as constrained as MW2. On every front.

IMO.

because part of the lawsuit filed against activision was that they were hiding the total profit from sales of MW2 from IW. hence they did not get the full potential of the profit sharing promised to them by the contract.

and maybe im wrong but if all these employees wanted a piece of a bigger pie that will result from the lawsuit i would leave the company and join in the litigation. accepting the smaller amount now might mean they cannot ask for more if IW prevails in the lawsuit against activision.

I didn't buy this, but I did buy BFBC2
Exactly, same for me and most of the people I game with.

6 of my WoW guildmates didn't buy MW2 because of the cost, the lower amount of content, and especially.. the lack of dedicated servers.
We all have however purchased BC2.. and we have a handful of servers we love playing on.. well administered, good group of regulars.
---------
I too find it humorous that people are jumping ship.. good. It's just too bad Activision made as much money as they did.. would've been great if the team left mid MW2

Screw COD anyway, its an awful linear terrible shooter.

In my opinion catering to the console crowd dumbs your game down and will eventually kill any series.

edit: consoles are swag, smoke the good stuff and give up the high school candy-ass gaming

I always enjoy seeing employees quit and find something better. Activision is a huge failure for letting the top cream of the crop talent loose. It really reflects poorly on their management.

All the members if IW werent just a group of ppl working together, they were best of friends and if someone stabbed your best 2 friends in the back like Activision did, you think that the rest of the main group are gonna stay? I think not!

All activision has now is an empty name and an IP called CoD, nothing more.

the mass resignation means these employees will never get their profit sharing.

How do you know they haven't? It's not something that is generally public knowledge. How do we know West and Zampalla haven't paid some of these people out of their own pocket to speed up their move to the new company? We don't, and likely never will as it's really none of the public's business.

Even if they haven't, sometimes it's just better to cut your loses and move on. Activision claiming everything is hunky dory at Infinity Ward is their job to try and appease shareholders. Obviously with this many people leaving, things are not fine in IW land.
