The original was a fun little game. I got my money's worth from it. The only major flaw was the lack of a real story and more varied and interesting quest but for that you need writers and writers cost money
I have a nifty blue line!

He doesn't like the gameplay, that's fine, but to say the graphics suck and are comparable to N64 is just....wrong. That goes a bit beyond opinion and is just an excuse to bash the game.

The thing I wish they did with this is give previous owners a discount, as the single player is mostly unchanged. The multiplayer is great but the user mods really outshine their singleplayer efforts. The best thing about this is what potential it holds in the future for multiplayer modding.

Glad to see so many of you are so open minded as to play indie games... yet you must admit it's very bizarre that some are also so close minded as not to except someone else's opinion concern a game. Strange crowd here at times.

Maybe I'm just getting old and didn't smell the blood in the water?

Ok thanks, the original was just a demo file, widely distributed, and all you bought was the cd-key. I see on their forums the users are distributing torrents for the .exe so I will just get that for now.

Still can't get over that they are charging $30 for a game that looks like it belongs on the N64.

For an indie game, it actually looks pretty damn good.

I'm not sold on it until they offer a single install file like the original had. I'm willing to jump through steams hoops for big retail games, but for an indy game that I intend to LAN with some buddies who wont be buying it, I wont deal with that crap.

I think the DRM is in all distributions. Gamersgate just downloads a script that downloads the install files, nothing more. Don't know about the other online stores.

Does anyone know which digital site gives you just the game without the required online DRM protection software? I just want an exe like GoG.com, not some stupid download manager that requires online identification.

The first didn't impress me. I'm getting back into 2 Worlds atm, and while it's decent, I hope 2W2 will be much better.

Game looks great to me. I wonder if they optimized the battle engine. I could get about 230 soldiers in battles in the original before my PC started to cry, which, all things considered is still pretty cool.

With my rig there's definite improvements compared to the original.

I bought M&B way back in the day. I think the current version at the time was 0.6xx. I'm not sure exactly, but I do have a version 0.7xx on my other computer still. Some of the best money I've ever spent on a PC game. I had tried the demo to like level 6, and it didn't take me long to decide it was going to be worth my money. But it's really interesting to me that this announcement should show up today, because I just installed the game on my laptop last night and started playing again, after not having played it for a few months.

If you're someone who's never played this game yet and you like melee combat, you should download the free trial now. Especially if you can get past graphics that are a bit dated. The combat system in this game makes the next best (Oblivion maybe?) look sad.

Also, there are tons of mods and addons out for this game.

Bought this at Gamersgate, played some MP before in the pre-order window. This may be the best MP experience I've had in years. It's rather fun that a game made by an indie actually supports full dedicated servers, modtools, 64 players MP online and tons of MP modes while big names do an half-ass job.

I rather play this game with its crude gfx than BF:BC2 with its tons of problems. This game in MP is a blast, and that's something I haven't said for a MP game in years.

As for SP, it's much more varied than the original, with romance and being able to build a kingdom yourself, and a new faction, the Saracin Empire, styled after the Saracens. More quests as well, the trade system is still sucky but I'm having more fun in SP than the original.

That's one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. Some of the best gaming moments I've ever had have been with games with little to no art. Dwarf Fortress leaps to mind. I've donated well over $30 bucks to those guys, and will happily donate more in the future.

As an aside, the game looks great. The new expansion helps the visuals immensely. But really, if you only play games for the visuals go jump in a lake.

I was playing it a bit last night and liked what I saw. I hadn't played the original since long before it ever hit store shelves, though, so I really don't know the differences.

It's a fun, fairly deep game that's a lot of fun if you can look past the shortcomings that result from being an indie studio without EA's budgets.

Darn, I guess that means I can't play the multiplayer for free through the beta now

I'm eager to read up on the single player game though. The extent to which they improved the SP will dictate when I buy this game.
I wonder if the newer single player game is better because the demo was repetitive when I played it.
