Ubisoft tweets that their latest server outage was cleared up in the wee hours: "Login servers were partially reestablished at 10pm CET and fully restored at 1am CET. The attack affected only those trying to login."
I think they probably found out how to circumvent the login process, but I am pretty sure they would later run into the issues the pirated copies are having.
