Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Trailer

A new trailer for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands features developer interviews from Ubisoft's upcoming installment in the long-running (jumping, etc.) platformer series as well as the first look at gameplay. They describe how this game fits in the seven year gap in the Prince's story between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within that has them going back to more of a "Sands of Time feel." Other topics include the emphasis on getting the feel of familiar acrobatics just right, the beauty of the environments, the new "power over the elements" the Prince holds, and more. They also briefly mention combat, saying the game will feature 50-enemy battles and epic boss battles. The embedded HD version follows.

Sands of time was a very polished game with excellent gameplay and mechanics. The later incarnations seemed to focus way too much on pleasing the fighting crowd, which on PC also suffered from horrible consolitus. While the strength of Prince of Persia has always been the puzzle/mechanics part.

From the trailer it looks like they've gone back to their roots, which is definitely a good thing. Too bad about the DRM though, but will keep it in mind once it hits the bargain bin and they'll have removed the server constraints.
