Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Trailer

A new trailer for Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands features developer interviews from Ubisoft's upcoming installment in the long-running (jumping, etc.) platformer series as well as the first look at gameplay. They describe how this game fits in the seven year gap in the Prince's story between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within that has them going back to more of a "Sands of Time feel." Other topics include the emphasis on getting the feel of familiar acrobatics just right, the beauty of the environments, the new "power over the elements" the Prince holds, and more. They also briefly mention combat, saying the game will feature 50-enemy battles and epic boss battles. The embedded HD version follows.

Sands of time was a very polished game with excellent gameplay and mechanics. The later incarnations seemed to focus way too much on pleasing the fighting crowd, which on PC also suffered from horrible consolitus. While the strength of Prince of Persia has always been the puzzle/mechanics part.

From the trailer it looks like they've gone back to their roots, which is definitely a good thing. Too bad about the DRM though, but will keep it in mind once it hits the bargain bin and they'll have removed the server constraints.

sands of time was the best one by far, awesome story, it was unique.
and it had some clever puzzles in it.

quality its one of the best games i've ever played.

i've pretty much hated all of the prince of persia games - they always try to make him cool, or some shit, and its like STFU just make the game good first plz

Damn. This one looks pretty good. It actually has platforming this time, as opposed to a series of QTEs.

Shame I will never buy it until they remove the DRM.

Y'know...with all the hoopla over Ubisoft's DRM - while I agree with everybody complaining - it never got to the point where I had a vested interest, since none of the games "impacted" so far held any interest for me.

This, on the other hand, is another story. I loved Sands of Time, and this video absolutely makes me want to get this next game. I would definitely buy this whenever it comes out...were it not for their stupid DRM scheme.

Not that it probably matters to them, but that one right there is a sale lost...(and no, it's not 1 more pirated version - I have too much of a backlog of games that hold my interest for me to bother pirating a game like this)

I would kill for a semi-realistic FPS or TPS (see: Max Payne) with those style of graphics.
Team Fortress 2. Best FPS ever created. The visuals are not quite EXACTLY like the last PoP, but it's somewhat cartoony, but with an edge. And there are supposedly mods out there you can download to get it a lot closer to the PoP look.
I would like to know where to get those mods!

Yeah, I've yet to check it out, and it looks pretty cool, but I was thinking something more gritty and realistic ala F.E.A.R. (the original)

This looks great.

Its a shame the last installment had such amazingly well done visuals, since the combat was so goddam awful.
I played it for maybe 20 minutes until I fought a couple times... ugh.

I know many of you aren't the biggest fans of the last game's visual style, but i thought it was incredible.

It looks like Sand of Time which I enjoyed. I hope there will be a playable demo, but the nasty DRM from Ubi.

Awesome! Buy it as soon as it comes out, so that you, too, can not play the game you paid for, because Ubi's too dumb to keep their shitty DRM servers running! Wooot! All this excitement for only 60 bucks!

I know. It's ridiculous isn't it? They created a DDOS machine for themselves, and they wonder what went wrong....

It's the game you should play if you like the original trilogy.

Guess they weren't too happy with how the last one was received.
