Nothing really new but a different voice to add. I had no plans to buy any of those games anyway, so no sale, but no lost sale.
I'm a fortunate person. I come from a middle class family in the US and have never been unemployed when I wanted to be employed. Perhaps if I had less fortunate economic circumstances I might have tried pirating games, but as things are, I never have.
I, like others, have been buying and playing PC games since the early DOS days. I have viewed most copyright protection schemes over the years as mostly annoying but even worse, pointless. I suspect, in the end, this scheme will also prove to be pointless.
However, this scheme would seem to have a much higher chance to prevent legitimate customers from using/playing the product they have purchased. The fact that Ubisoft has acknowledged that in some instances legitimate customers will be unable to play their single player games (due to a server outage or whatever) and that they feel this is acceptable shows a blatant disregard for basic customer service. I'm hoping such a company will fall flat on it's face.
