Bad Company 2 Mod Support "Out of the Question" at Release

There's a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 interview on BASHandSlash translating a German conversation with Patrick Bach from Gamestar magazine (thanks Joker961). They ask about a few absent features, with Patrick saying the following about co-op: "One of our game modes is squad deathmatch where four players fights against three other squads. Basically this is a coop mode where one fights against a 'superior' enemy. Kind of an online coop mode. And our focus is the online gaming." Of LAN support he says: "But it might be that we will offer this later." He also indicates the game will definitely not have mod support out of the box: "The player can change settings on the dedicated server but there won't be modding tools included in the retail game. The reason is the same as coop mode. That is, we decided to focus on other aspects because we want to achieve the highest levels of quality possible, rather than a buggy game with average gameplay but with modding possibilities. Theoretically we could still add mod support after release, we just don't know yet. But it's out of the question for the retail version."

And sniping in this game is absolutely awesome. They really nailed it in my opinion, it's so rewarding to line up a shot, see the enemy fire at the same time you do and see him go down instead of u. (because he missed) There is almost no twitch shots involved, the range and location have to be carefully aimed and it's so damn fun to see someone firing at you while you stay focused and land a better shot, BOOM HEADSHOT!

I love the snipers role in this game. You can make a ridiculous number of points by being a real sniper and strategically focusing on specific targets and providing spotting for your team. It's a huge difference when you're on Assault to have your enemies spotted ahead of time by a sniper. I love how they integrated that functionality. I also tend to focus on targets near objectives instead of being one of those retards who thinks sniping is all about trying to kill everyone you see. I let plenty of targets escape if it means I can take out the sniper or MG guy covering an MCOM. I got my first sniper hit on a helicopter pilot last night and nothing is quite as satisfying as seeing that Apache spiral to the ground.

They nailed sniper in this game, too many people will play it like any other FPS and that's a real shame because when it's played right its amazing for team support.
