Now that you mention it, indeed.. where the heck are all the fresh (new ip) Sci-Fi games, most importantly rpg's , sims and action games?
I think mass effect and dead space are about the only franchises that currently serve real sci-fi. And those are only in the shallowest meaning rpg's... Fallout 3 is at best alternate timeline...
And yeah, i am sick to death of the endless WWII games as well. Why doesn't someone make Silent Hunter just with sci-fi submarines? Or a space sim alá Silent Hunter, just in space.. same goals same gameplay methods except in space/nebula and so on.
It seems developers have all lost their creativity

I'm all in favor of more sci-fi. Sick to death of the endless WWII games over the past decade. I want some sci-fi RPGs! Fallout 3 is the closest we've gotten to that. I'd like to see more, with more variety and imagination in them.

What about correlation between all the sci-fi movies that released the past half year? 
Avatar is top and thats sci-fi/romance. One could easily deduct that people want more sci-fi for the moment.

To me, it just says that the majority of people who buy games don't even know or care about DRM.

I wonder if there's a correlation between the release of high-profile game like Mass Effect 2, and an increase in sales for other games in the same genre.

Every single one of them a space game. It seems Stardock is aptly named.
