StarCraft II Beta System Requirements [Jan 29, 2010, 2:40 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Blizzard Support now offers system requirements for the StarCraft II beta, Blizzard's upcoming RTS sequel (thanks nin and Kotaku). The requirements are pretty modest, with the recommended specs calling for an Intel Pentium D or AMD 64 X2 CPU, one to two GB of RAM, and a "3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 128 MB VRAM such as an ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT class card or better." Update: It turns out these specifications were not accurate, see this story for details.

Blizzard already took down the page and told Kotaku it was posted by accident. So nothing to see here folks, nothing to see.

My 2007 laptop more than meets the Recommended (C2D 2.4, nVidia 8600, 4GB RAM).
However I'll probably be getting a new rig before SC 2 comes out. My laptop is giving me issues, on top of which it suffer from the nVidia 8600 issue from 2007. In fact I just; had to have its motherboard replaced as a result and the warranty will be up in a few weeks.
I believe said issue involves overheating of the GPU, which makes sense as my laptop died about 2 months after I started using it for gaming.
I wonder what the Mac requirements are gonna be. I'm thinking of dual-booting an iMac if they can fix the defect in the current run.

Not surprised with the beta requirements really...Blizzard games are very forgiving when it comes down to hardware. You've got to hand it to them they really know how to make great games that run on old pcs.
Also keeping in mind that this is still only the beta requirements.
