Perhaps it's an issue of neutrality, for example an advertiser might only agree to give them money if the article about them made them sound better or something.

I would have to agree with Nerf2009. Impartiality is important. When corporate interests enter the picture, that impartiality cannot exist.

I don't know what the problem he has with ads. It seems like every website I visit has advertising involved in some way.
