Star Trek Online Klingon FAQ

Ask Cryptic: Klingons Part 1 on the Star Trek Online Website has answers to questions about the Klingon faction in Star Trek Online, Cryptic's upcoming Trek MMORPG. The concluding answer may surprise them with the number of responses it generates: "We've been looking all over for someone to help us out with Klingon Localization. However, at this time there seems to be a shortage of Klingon linguists. We're hoping that as the Klingon language becomes more prominent we'll be able to find someone to help us out with this. We’re also looking into ways we can farm this out to the community. Any volunteers?"

Dude, I pity you. $80? You crazy self loathing bastard.

Crazy Star Trek fanboy more like.

$80 is a lot to throw away on what will probably be an average game at best, especially since there is also the $15 a month to consider afterward, but for a Trek fan like myself it is still worth it.

It's even my first MMO, I had no interest in them previously.

That's what rabid fandom does to you.

At least I don't read all the novels like some people. *shudder*

Narf you get your first ship (the starter ship) at the tutorial, you then later get your Lt Commander ship at level 11. Trust me when I say you will NOT be getting your next ship the line within 2 or 6 hours, try more like 20+ hours later.

As for the borg bridge officer, look at Seven of Nine. I would imagine that a Borg BO will be a 'omni' Bridge Officer that can do Tactical, Engineering, or Science. That alone would make it Officer you would use for the entire game.

The gamestop pre-order is the Original Series Enterprise not 1701-A or Alt Timeline Enterprise.

Yes, but thanks to your nanny state censors, you only have about half as many games to choose from so it all evens out in the end

I don't always drink carbonated Mexican rat piss, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

lol! $80 is nothing for a game. Over here were paying over $100 for an average new game. The Aussie dollar is just about parity with the US ... and you think $80 is a lot? Pfft?

Don't get too excited - by all accounts, even playing leisurely you'd only use it for 2 hours before you got a better ship. The humor in the preorder bonuses is that Best Buy's bonus pets are the only bonus you'd be guaranteed to still be using after the 2 hour mark, even if rarely. They say the Amazon Borg officer will remain useful throughout the entire game but I doubt it unless they plan on making that a microtransaction later.

If I wasn't flat broke in the middle of christmas I'd probably pre-order it too. The movie version of the Enterprise is my favorite ship in all of sci-fi and the only way I can play it in the game is to pre-order it from Gamestop.

Man that's messed up.

To each his own. We've all taken the hype train right to the crash, or we wouldn't know why we'd never do that again. Besides, disappointed hope that costs $80 is a lot cheaper than lots of other kinds of disappointment.

Actually they will be Klingon Linguist Interns, and everyone in Hollywood knows you don't pay interns, you just abuse them, take their creations, and do another line of coke. Thus we know were all the money went.

Wow. Um... I'm not sure what to say about that. The inclusion of Klingons really seems like a second thought at this point. They can't find a linguist to hire? People conduct entire weddings in Klingon, and you can't find a linguist? You have the backing of Paramount and... what kind of Mickey Mouse operation is Cryptic running?

I'm sure there are thousands of ST geeks that speak Klingon they could hire, but want volunteers instead? Yeah, the more I hear about this game the more I realize Cryptic needs to go away.
