Take-Two Financials: Borderlands Sells 2M

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Reports Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2009 Financial Results has Take-Two's final results for the quarter, following preliminary results announced two weeks ago. Revenues are down and losses are up for the year versus the previous year, a no-brainer after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008. They include the following tidbit about Borderlands sales: "Borderlands from 2K Games has now sold over 2 million units worldwide and has established itself as a key franchise for Take-Two, for which the Company has long-term publishing rights."

MAKE DAMN SURE you backup your char first

They fixed that in the first patch.

I ran every character to lvl50, and fizzled out on my second Hunter at lvl 40. You essentially "beat the game" when you've hit lvl 50. With no economy and terrible pvp, there's no sense in continuing.

And certain characters are more entertaining than others, for sure. Just make a berserker because roaring like a maniac and punching things to death never gets old.

Timble -

Many have stated, and I agree, the game gets better once you leave the first area. You come back for more missions, but the gameplay/story/difficulty gets better when you jump the gully (my fav mission thus far is the large complex of warehouses where you fight a guy in the engineer's room - but my soldier's special weapon is over powered and cuts all bosses down. :)).

That being said, haven't been able to play again.....lots of hours over 4 characters, but upset that my main character is destroyed and I am not able to pick up story line now that a MP game added 20+ missions....just can't let that go. Was great up until THAT.

So. If you join a MP game. MAKE DAMN SURE you backup your char first, or start new with someone you know.

I keep playing Borderlands hoping I'll get into it but I always get bored after playing for a few min. I feel like I'm playing an MMO just grinding cookie cutter missions. The weapons are cool, I like the variety, MIRV grenades are very cool.

Does the game get better after the first area? I've played maybe an hour? I'm just bored to tears, my char is lvl 10 if that tells you anything.

Iow, expect 50 more DLCs and at least 4 sequels that are pretty much the same game except with a few new weapons and monsters.

Borderlands 2K10, coming to a store near you, soon!

Meh. Once id's Rage hits the scene, this toon game will be forgotten quickly. They will need some major additions to the game to keep interest in the sequel or maybe sheeple will just lap it up anyway like MW2. <shrug>

Yeah, because id made so many great games in the past, particularly, shooters with rpg elements. lol

A game doesn't have to keep one's interest indefinitely. There have been plenty of great titles out there that I no longer play, not because they were no longer updated or supported, but because I'm just done with them.

I got 49 hours out of Borderlands, and at $33 for my share of the 4-pack I consider myself well-entertained for the money. Might go back to it if the Island of Zed thing goes on sale, but if I don't I won't consider it a loss.

Somehow I have very little faith that id can make something that doesn't come across as a tech demo for an engine.
