TF2 War Ends

The Team Fortress 2 Blog declares that the war over the new Team Fortress 2 weapon between the Soldier and the Demoman is over, but they do not know the winner yet. The last update on the topic had these figures: Demoman Killed: 6,323,921 - Dead Soldiers: 6,298,465. They are currently tabulating the results, and barring any hanging chads, will announce the outcome soon. There is also the following note: "Beginning now, we're going to start transitioning the new inventory system into the game. Until the update goes live later today, you will not have access to your inventory."

It's fine (but not ideal) to use a splitter for 100mb eth on patch panels when done properly. Only 4 wires in a cat5e cable are normally used, so you have a splitter at each end to route one of the split lines down the spare wires, then have to have another splitter on the other end. Each line is still dedicated, and needs it's own port on a switch, you can't share the data.

Of course this fails badly if someone comes along later and tries to put splitters on cables already running through splitters ;D

What constitutes the source?

I live in an apartment building and when I goto the basement to do my laundry I can see a man sized knot of coax, amps, and splitters on the wall snaking up to the apartments above.

Oddly enough the dependability of my connection, while living here for a year, has been the best of my broadband life of 10 years.

I assumed he was talking about a coax splitter for his cable line.

You aren't supposed to do that, either. Internet should be on a dedicated cable line straight from the source to the modem.

I didn't know there were such things as cat-5/ethernet splitters.

Sounds good. And just after me and a housemate tracked down the issue with our connection - we had a faulty splitter and a computer that would slow the internet down when turned on. We switched off the problem computer and removed the splitter and the connection speed went from 5MBit to 41MBit... quite the improvement! Bring it on.
