Aion Double XP Weekends [Dec 17, 2009, 12:03 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The Aion Website has a general discussion of plans to make player progression easier in NCsoft's MMORPG, saying they have long term plans to make the process of completing levels 1-35 in the game easier. Since this is going to take some time to work out and implement, they also announce the next three weekends will be double XP weekends, and that after that they plan on offering double XP weekends once or twice a month. They add they are also adding some changes in this week’s patch: "Soul Healing will be less expensive for characters of all levels, and we’re increasing the experience bonus that Energy of Repose bestows for levels 20–44." i'm still playing it, lvl 28, and just hit a quest wall, leveled up to this point strictly on quests and no grinding. and it was a blast til i got to this point.
the gathering is pretty fun, the game mechanics are good, the pvp is enjoyable (by enjoyable i mean my only experience is getting ganked by assholes 20+ times and actually managing to kill one ONCE (i caught HIM by suprise, as he was getting in position to gank someone else))

They do have a massive update coming down the pipe as well. Underwater zones, giant raid bosses, graphical updates, new weapon types for every class, etc etc.
I might have to get back into it again...especially if they can let me level up through their quest system rather than having to grind on mobs.

Inexcusable grind, which drove me and everyone I know that was playing it away long before 35.
Sounds like we weren't alone, and they're just now figuring out the huge XP/grind curve is a game killer. It also sounds like too little too late.
Shame, this game had a lot of potential.
