Section 8 PC DLC Released

The Section 8 section on the Games for Windows LIVE Website has details on the Seek and Destroy Map Pack DLC that's now available for the Windows edition of Section 8, TimeGate Studios' futuristic shooter (thanks TheWeaponeer). The packs is 560 MS points ($7.00 USD in actual money), and here's word on what it offers:
The Seek and Destroy Map Pack expands the Section 8 experience with three new maps for the Multiplayer and Instant Action game modes. Players fight for control of a geothermal energy plant on the salt flats of New Madrid in “Devil’s Backbone” and battle in the narrow confines of a hazardous valley on the planet Titan in “Hornet’s Nest.” “Azure Basin” is set high atop a mountain plateau where a massive hydroelectric dam sits astride the map, with combat ranging both inside and outside of the facility.

Charging for multiplayer maps on PC is amusing. I am sure MW2 will do the same.

That really is crossing a line in my opinion, but hey, millions pay for it. What can you do?

I don't pay much attention to sales, but I know PC Gamer and some other outlets gave the game a nice review. It has dedicated servers as well, for console and PC. Sadly I assume it fell under the radar and without a AAA marketing budget, no one bought it.

Of course, seeing they are charging for maps on PC I guess I feel little to no sympathy.

Whats the point of *selling* 3 maps anyway? Might have been smarter to make 9 more and add some new vehicles and weapons and sell it as a proper expansion.

This will only split the community... what a weird business concept... Is the plan.. like... destroying your player base with micro map expansions that'll never be releases as a proper pack? So new players will have to buy 20 map-packs in the future to be able to play the game? Sounds awesome.. The game is dead.

I'm sure that both of the people who are playing this game right now are wondering why they're bothering.

hehe. this is really weird. I love this game, it really quite good. BUT no one fucking bought it. I probably saw max 50 people playing it across all the servers during the first days the game was out. I haven't checked recently but I doubt more than one single server is active any more. do they not check server traffic? no one will buy these maps. weird and ridiculous.

Yeah if they had business sense, they'd release it for free to attract players.

The "beta" (demo) of this game felt like a budget title, and I don't think I'll buy it until it's appropriately priced that way.

It's completely generic in virtually every way, and the moment they said "automatically aiming sniper rifles" virtually every gamer dismissed the game utterly with one unified global face palm.
