Anybody buy the PC version of this? Is it any good? Or at least not bad?

I played the console version.

It was an alright rental, but not worth buying. And this is coming from a guy that is
a) a major fan of the StarWars universe
b) buys way too many games as it is

For light saber action, the last couple of Jedi Knight games have it beat hands down.

For feeling "mighty in the force" once again I have to default to the Jedi Knight games.

There were a few cool moments but most of them involved the level from the Demo.

The only other part I liked was the recreation of a setting/room from the new trilogy made of scrap metal. It reminded me of an artistic homage.

The original trilogy tie-in was a mixed bag. I could see what they were going for but they were stretching it a bit much.


Personally I can't recommend buying the PC version unless you're a major SW fan eager for some new content. I recommend renting it on the console if you have a compatible one.

I thought Lucasarts was committed to digital distribution now? Without a release on Steam, Impulse or Direct2Drive it was obviously going to fail from the off. It's bad enough to take this long to release a port but to not even do it properly... it just doesn't make ANY sense.

Does your character have to build a droid to be used as a significant character in another game?

Just wait...I'm sure Star Wars: FU (what a great acronym, LA really let that one slip by accident) will be on Steam and the others later. Just not NOW.

Honestly I would say the ONLY good thing about Force Unleashed was the story and cutscenes. Some of the boss battles could have been great but I was too busy matching the colors on the screen to the buttons on the controller to really watch them.

Ok 2 things, the voice work was very well done and woked to really push the story.

Is the battle where you rip down a Star Destroyer as bad as I've heard? Someone mentioned that they literally copied it from the console version; in place of pushing a thumbstick down, you have to repeatedly (and repeatedly) move your mouse down.

I bought the PC version and to be honest with you it plays flawlessly. It's a fun game, I've certainly played better but for $30.00 I'm enjoying it very much. The only thing that sucks about it is the huge 25gig install... that's INSANE!! That's probably why you are not seeing it on digital download services. I don't understand how the PC version is 25gigs but they fit the whole XB360 game on a 8 gig DVD? I didn't notice any graphical improvements from the console version but it's a nice looking title either way. I'm grateful it came to my platform of choice and I plan on grabbing another copy for my son. By the way, the Star Destroyer "pull down" is the worst part of the game IMHO.
