Out of the Blue

As was noted yesterday, our new advertising is now showing up here. Your feedback on the new ads is welcome, and hopefully the elimination of pop-ups and takeovers addresses the understandable complaints about the ads here in the past. I want to thank the many of you who have already stopped blocking ads here, and hope that anyone who is still doing so will consider whitelisting us to help support the site.

Oh yeah, congrats to the Yankees.

Yeah you can believe it. Some don't last past a few months.
What I meant was, I don't believe the doctor would give a precise amount of time like that, "135 days". It would be a range, something like 4-5 months. It just doesn't sound right.

Dear BatmanX,

Your free instant streaming disc for PS3 should arrive by Friday, Nov 06, 2009.

Meanwhile, add TV episodes & movies to your instant Queue now so you're ready to watch instantly when your instant streaming disc arrives.

-Your friends at Netflix

You mean, you actually go by "Batman" in real life? Does your electric bill come to "Batman"? That would be awesome!!! Hey wait a minute... you're not really Batman, are you?!?!?

They should just be like all the other teams and not spend their revenue on the product on the field

You gotta be kidding me. Yankee revenue, even AFTER paying luxury taxes, still = a gazillion $$$.

Teams like KC, even AFTER receiving the luxury tax, still have only a fraction of the Yankees revenue, whether they spend it on players or not.

Only two ways to stop this, either a salary cap or increase the luxury tax until it has a real effect. Otherwise, it's just the Yankees buying another pennant ....

That story about the six year old with brain cancer just doesn't ring true to me, especially the "135 days to live." Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon, but I don't believe it.

My 15 year old sister lived almost a year with the same form of cancer. It sucks and its horrible especially at the end when they start losing senses like sight. Yeah you can believe it. Some don't last past a few months.

You're whitelisted again, Blue. Sadly, the new ads are just as obnoxiously animated as before.

Yes, the ads do use Flash, that is pretty unavoidable these days. What they don't use are expanding tricks, sound, pop-outs and other such shenanigans. I can only hope that everybody can put up with this.

Screw the F'in' Yankees. All they did was buy another trophy.

You're right. They should just be like all the other teams and not spend their revenue on the product on the field. Instead, they should field a team of prospects and rookies that win 72 games, and put their revenue sharing checks into their own bank accounts.

Turn the Yankees into the Pirates/Marlins/Royals/Indians/Twins/Padres! (take your pick)

Oh wait, without the Yankees spending so much, there'd be basically no revenue sharing to begin with.

Same here. I'm in germany, so maybe all ads are geo-targeted for other countries?

I think that some territories outside the US may not be seeing the ads. Also, there seem to be occasions where there may be no ads to serve no matter where you are.

Need us to clicky on ads too Blue, this is the only site I would willing click an ad? Can't promise I will buy them, since I gave up being an impulse buyer except for some indie developers?

I don't know what's going on at the site about the young girl, I can hit the page but it stutters and staggers won't load properly. Can just see the top part of the first message. It could be some weird Flash or Java embed, I guess.

You're whitelisted again Blue, but does us just SEEING the ads make you money? Or do we need to click on them, or even actually buy stuff through the link from the advertisers? How does that work.

I'll happily click on every ad that pops up if it makes you money.
