Hmm. Epic decides that they have no business actually making games anymore, farms it out to someone else? maybe that'll be the announcement.

Good lord there has been nothing good from Unreal 3, and as long as it stays as stupidly ridiculously complex as it is, there's going to be more and more people jumping off of that ship as soon as they can.

I definitely would bet that this, if true, will end up a 360 exclusive. Epic has made it pretty clear that they have little interest in the PC market.

Aside from a few (real) games that utilize Epic's engines, I have no use for them.

Yep, based on the logo, it looks like it's going to be a game where you're a futuristic delivery guy in a brown spaceship that's faced with the prospect of missing your overnight delivery due to hoards of aliens?

Interesting to see what this is. Read a rumour (think it was Destructoid or Joystiq) that it might be developer tools style release. Like a developers toolkit but for a smaller scale.

Take that as what it is though, a rumour.

On the take of A-list fps developers, they sure have changed over the past few years. Not a lot in the way of quality FPSs coming out with a nicely fleshed out story line (Borderlands doesn't count, crazy RPG/FPS spawn). Give me a game with some guns, no levels or xp and a nice linear story line (but make it fkin epic) and you'll have me.

Bonus points for co-op support and decent mod tools (level editor and scripter for easy access). Mmmm... I can see a gap in the market that needs filling!

Should anyone have the need to feel sympathy for CliffyB anymore, let's not forget his comments about how terrible it was that twice the amount of people who bought Gears 2 played it and needed bandwidth spent on them for patches thanks to the second-hand market, and that Epic's future releases (which will undoubetly be 360 exclusives) will start popping up a window to prompt the player for their credit-card number and a $20 charge before fighting the final boss if they bought the game second-hand.

What the hell is going wrong with this world where DICE is looking like the most attractive A-list developer these days?

I nominate this for worst comment of the year. Even if you hate Gears you have to admit it had some of the best co-op seen in a long time. Or do you prefer the usual no or half assed co-op that most shooters have? Also, IIRC, he had a heavy hand in the original Unreal Tourney which was awesome.

I don't want to see a proper Unreal sequel from them right now. The feeling of being completely alone on an alien planet, some impressive maps (The Sunspire, Bluff Eversmoking) and those translation messages made that game. It's impossible for the current Epic to get that atmosphere right.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an official unveiling of Unreal engine 4.

This is total heresay but I've heard it from several sources that Cliffy was partly responsible for the state U2 ended up in. It was his first true AAA game where he wore the top producer hat. Evidently Cliffy acted like a little Nazi compromising many of Legends ideas for the game including siding with Atari's idea to remove the multiplayer aspect (XMP), something which put UT2k3 (a dedicated multiplayer game) to shame.

Hard to get excited about one of the best games made at the time, when the person who has dismantled Unreal into failed sport franchise drivel, still works at the company.

I thought "Return to Na Pali" was fun, but that was more of an expansion, not a sequel.

I am holding out that this is a true sequel to the original (and best) Unreal. Doubtful. Not going to get my hopes up this time. Not gonna do it.

The original Unreal deserves a proper sequel/followup indeed, but by the direction Epic has taken their franchise i doubt it will happen indeed. Still a shame the adventure/storyline type FPS games have been almost entirely been overtaken by the RPG genre.
