Gold - Dragon Age: Origins

BioWare announces that Dragon Age: Origins is gold for all three target platforms, and BioWare's RPG will be released as scheduled in North America on November 3, and in Europe on November 6 (though the PS3 edition is being held back for "later in November" in EU territories). Word is:
In anticipation of the game, players can begin their Dragon Age: Origins experience early by joining the BioWare Social Network -- a destination to share in-game screenshots, review game data and share story information. Players can also download the free to download Character Creator where players can create and customize a player character on the PC and then upload their character data and avatar to the BioWare Social Network before Dragon Age: Origins launches. The Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator will provide players with the tools to create a character with a nearly endless amount of options. Players can download the character creator and get more information on the BioWare Social Network by clicking here.

In Dragon Age: Origins, players take the role of a Grey Warden, one of the last of an ancient order of guardians. Now, as a rising evil threatens to destroy all life, it is up to players to unite the shattered lands and slay the corrupted dragon known as the Archdemon. To restore peace, players must make ruthless decisions and be willing to sacrifice their friends and loved ones for the greater good of mankind.

Unless you are that desperate and and do every single side mission (if you're lucky) before starting the final mission.

I guarantee me and you aren't the only ones.
I know "you and I" but "guarantee me" sounds nicer

Yet trying to hog the intellectual spotlight with pseudo-philosophical nonsense prompts the impression of being a kiddy guy who's trying desperately to wield that wit and sarcasm.

That wasn't bad. I give a B for effort, and a raisin cookie.

On the other side, I'm building a new rig for this so hopefully I'll enjoy myself. This 5 year old gaming rig has hit the end of the line.

people who consider their opinions as fact cant be reasoned with, its not worth the effort to try. shit would be invisible

Too bad you haven't stepped beyond quantitative/qualitative reasoning in facts to figure out why 'is, what is.'

nope, it seems you are the one obsessed with that. go ahead, i know you are itching to say "i know you are but what am i!". get back to your roots, echo the theme and all that

I see you're still playing in the land of kiddy games. Wit, and sarcasm are a much finer tool to wield.

Jade Empire was kind of similar... after KotOR Bioware went through a phase of making more action-games than RPGs in a lot of ways, and they are still great action games.

Err, I wouldn't call them great action games. Based on combat alone, they were pretty weak.

Indeed its epic. Epic quickly reached. Unless you are that desperate and and do every single side mission (if youre lucky) before starting the final mission. I tried that once and it felt like a MMO, because everything was the same.
I was unlucky (or lucky?) enough to just do all the main missions after another without being aware of it that that would be the whole game. I always thought "uh, this looks awfully like its going to end soon, but I doubt BioWare would be that stupid to not link side missions with the main story and make this game end after a few hours".
Yeah well, after 2 more hours it was over and I was incredibly annoyed and sad because it had LOTS of potential.

The game was a lot more of an action-RPG-cinematic experience than most Bioware games. Jade Empire was kind of similar... after KotOR Bioware went through a phase of making more action-games than RPGs in a lot of ways, and they are still great action games. Even if you skip most of the side quests ME is still a good 15-20 hours and that is longer than almost any shooter.

ME is very flawed but still excellent, like most great games of our past. I can't think of any game that I couldn't pick a list of flaws for, but I can think of a lot of great games.

The loading and elevator waits were horrible. The menu was terrible. The vehicle parts were frustrating and dull. The save game system was badly done.

I hear you, and I agree with all of this. Even in light of all that could have been done better, I loved Mass Effect more than most any game I played in the last 5 years.

Dragon Age is looking to be far closer to BG, with a smattering of ME-style NPC interactions, though we'll know for sure in a couple of weeks.

I really wanted to love Mass Effect. I love sci-fi and space operas and shooters and RPGs, so I figured this would be my favorite game of all time. But I was disappointed. It was just to consolized. The loading and elevator waits were horrible. The menu was terrible. The vehicle parts were frustrating and dull. The save game system was badly done. Even the characters were kinda boring, and Bioware is usually great at creating likable and memorable characters.
I even tried the PC version, hoping it would fix all this, but it was just a console port.

I've loved Baldur's gate and the NWN series. I hope DA:O is more like that. I've got it pre-ordered and I'm taking Nov3 off of work to play it.

As for on topic.. I'm curious about this game, but not enough to buy before try, though I did just finally pick up Mass Effect, and I'm enjoying most of it so far ; )

All that bullshitting about retard this and retard that, while the real retard has not yet been spotted. I'll point him out for you guys.

Nah that'd be the troll in our midst. They're easier to ignore, and then throw to NIN or Ant for an appetizer.

So someone is either a retard, or a troll, if they don't like Bioware games... Or more accurately, can't stand them past about the halfway point...

I can understand that. I used to love epic RPGs, story immersion, etc... But at some point, you can get sick of how slow (travelling, UI, etc) things go and just want the pain to end : )

And unlike Fion seems to think, these games aren't 10 seconds long.

space captain why don't you ever provide evidence or examples? At least Mashiki Amiketo provided something to back up his statement. I thought his, or her, comment was logical and well thought out. I don't think Mashiki is a "jackass retard".
