Wasn't there a doom-n-gloom article a few days ago about how Microsoft bungled the marketing for Halo3:ODST?

I guess anyone can be a journalist nowadays. There needs to be some kind of license before you can open your mouth in front of a wide audience as a trusted source.

You could slap Halo on a fat man's ass and sell it 2 million times. It doesn't mean the guy was wrong.

I think the problem is that people trust sources even when they know little to nothing about them, their potential biases or their record.

Yea! I really enjoyed the first one... while it lasted. If this is just as good (or better), I might have to break down and pick up a cheap 360.

Pick up a broken Xbox on ebay and do the fix yourself, takes like 30 mins if you have any competency with computer hardware. Bam cheap 360 to play whatever exclusives you can't get on the PC.

You want consoles on the cheap, hit an anime or similar nerdy convention and get into the dealer's room as soon as possible. Got myself a Wii brand new for a hundred bucks at Otakon, the same dealer had 360s and PS3s for fifty bucks less than retail, and this was all before the recent price drops. Another dealer had 360s and PS3s for even cheaper than that once the last day of the con hit and everyone was trying to sell as much as possible.

Although he also has imported PSPs for $75 more than retail; why anyone would care about the color of their handheld, let alone enough to pay more for it, is beyond me.

I still don't get the draw for Halo. I played the first one half way through (until they just cut/pasted the levels together) and played the 2nd one for about an hour before realizing there were TONS of better FPSs available. I can't see how some people see it as the second coming of Christ; the story is just OK, the enemies are a joke, and the environments are bleh. Maybe I'm just not hip to pop-culture or maybe I just like good games ....

Hmmm... I've played quite a few FPS in my time on the PC and Console, and I do not rank many as highly as the average Halo, and none as high on the awesome lets make a cool custom game and splitscreen/systemlink/online that sucker'o'scale.

It is a good game, it's just not your cup of mocha. Some people like Tech Demos more than good, unique, fun and polished entertainment software. Whatever floats their swimming aids I guess.
