There's an expansion pack for XvT that adds a couple of singleplayer campaigns. It's called XvT Balance of Power. It was the first of the games to have the SSD, I recall. |

StingingVelvet: Did you miss the part that says "original"? I took that to mean not another remake or rerelease like they have been doing the last few months. I don't see how it means a new IP. |

Wildone: Yes, lucas was "SO" into the prequels that I can see him insisting on that being the setting for any space games from lucasarts. Obviously he was, I mean he never did kill off Jar Jar. |

Not 'good' acting, but good enough that I didn't feel like I was watching cardboard cut outs, there was some life to them. Cant be said about the prequels AT ALL. |

There was very little "good" acting in the original trilogy either... but that doesn't stop them from being 3 of my favorite movies (especially Empire). I like the new ones too, but they're not classics like the originals. I would prefer the OT setting for a new starfighter game, but a decent one could be made from the prequel setting too. Hell, why not do a game that spans both periods?
It may be a moot point anyway. I don't think the X-Wing franchise is at the top of LA's list of franchises to revisit. Even if they do, I think they're most likely to make a dumbed down arcade space sim that has more in common with Star Wars Starfighter than with TIE Fighter.

BFI top 100 films:

Why do people want ANYTHING based on the new films, they utterly sucked. I don't think you'll find Ep 1,2 or 3 on any critical film lists..at least SW or Empire might well be (and deservedly so) Anyone with a hint of taste would agree with me. Was anyone SO into the prequels they are dying for a space game based on it???
But then again I grew up with the OT so to be flying an X-wing over a huge detailed Star Destroyer fleet done next gen style with hundreds of other ships gets me moist heh
No matter what you say about different decades having past, some things dont change like GOOD story telling, and good acting..neither of which was in the newer SW films, or are people so dumbed down they lost some kind of instinct for whats good any more..seriously?! |

The guy who did Luke's voice in X-Wing Alliance had been the 'main' voice for anything requiring Luke's voice like Jedi Academy.
Personally if they do make another Xwing type game I would much rather have Totally Game do it again, and have it set more along the 3rd party side like Alliance except you get to choose if you want to go Alliance/Imperial/Smuggler. Especially after seeing what they did with Bridge Commander, I drool to think what they could do with another shot at the Star Wars Universe. |

I'd settle for a prequel-era Space Flight Sim if that's all they're going to give us.
Wasn't Starfighter like that? I never played it...or was it more arcadish?

Plus they would figure that no one is interested in the ancient original trilogy, but surely everyone wants something based on the newer star wars films... right? right? The trilogy, no.
But the early universe wasn't bad. I'd settle for a prequel-era Space Flight Sim if that's all they're going to give us.
The ships were kind of sleek and stylish "bacl then" instead of functional and menacing like in the original.
The only thing I'd need to get used to is those pulse engines that sound like space Harleys.
This is assuming the quality is at least as good as the first X-Wing sim and it's not some Rogue Squadron game.

LOL this is hilarious. I remember back when they tweeted about there being an announcement about stuff and they said it wasn't about any specific IP. Yet still lots of people thought it was about X-wing/tie fighter.
Now when they are saying its a new "original" game, people are STILL thinking its about x-wing/tie fighter.
How can anyone think that? LOL |
