BioShock 2 MP Trailer

The promised "epic world premiere trailer for BioShock 2 multiplayer" is now available on GameTrailers.com after debuting on GTTV in the wee hours. The clip starts with a pleasant duck-and-cover style intro before segueing into some chaotic multiplayer footage, where big daddies, little sisters, splicers, and more all battle it out with guns and plasmids, resulting in loads of chaos.

Yes, the first game had very nice gimmicks but the core gameplay wasn't all that great, imo. Now we see with this vid that the game is weak because multiplayer focuses on gameplay and not graphics or atmosphere, especially deathmatch.

Now if they made huge MP maps and had coop as a type of RPG experience, that might actually kick ass. But making a huge world would likely be prohibitively expensive and time consuming.

I really never understood all the hype behind the first game. It really wasn't all that great of a game, imo. In fact, it was a rather mediocre game. Certainly not impressed by the sequel, either.

On a slightly less related note: Why do Unreal engine games look like this? I'm not sure how to describe it, but they have this plasticy look and feel, and all the weapons feel EXTREMELY underpowered. It's really annoying to me. It's ugly, and that's before considering the lack of AA.

Personally I don't get the angle they're going for here anyway. It would have been much more interesting to play it out as Rapture collapsed in on itself in those last days.

Wow, I had high hopes for this one. After seeing this video this one goes back to my "pay no mind" list.

Gotta agree with the "meh" sentiments here. I never finished BS1 either. Got bored maybe halfway through. This looks even less interesting.

I agree, if that trailer was supposed to make me care for MP, it now has made me fear how the SP will play in battle (somehow bioshock 1 felt much smoother than that)

Nothing about this trailer was Epic ;/

Color me highly disappointed.. exactly what loomv said, looks like an id game.. not good for this day and age, or 5 years ago even. Looks too fast, disconnected etc..

I loved the original, but I've not seen a single thing about Bio2 that looks interesting...

Really a shame.

I don't know why they even bothered with MP for this game? Why? What's the point? See, this is the exact sort of thing where having MP as an addon one could buy if they were so inclined would be good. I have zero interest for MP for this game, and if it could save me money not having to pay for it, I'd take that option.

I realise I'm posting this as someone who, despite all the polish and style, got bored quite quickly with Bioshock and never finished it... but:

Seeing this vid just looks no fun at all, reason being it looks like you can die (quite readily) from 101 different ways with no counter or escape. I realise the marketing vid is full of players and deaths to appear more pumped up and hectic than it might otherwise be, but it gives the impression of a complete spam fest of guns, plasmids, sentries, objects etc etc. Not doing anything for me, I'm afraid.

looks rather meh(pointless)

how about some CTF with telekinesis flag passing, at a minimum?

Looks like a boringly basic MP implementation, when there are some interesting and rich opportunities provided by elements of the Bioshock universe.
