I usually wait a week on any big firmware release. There's always something to worry about... I did however brand my new slim (yes I have 3 PS3s now) with 3.0 just to see it. I plan on doing a huge 400 gig back up and update to the slim with my current data when the fallout is over and I update my current OS. I love the slim so far (kids are getting it so I can put one of these 60 gig BC units up for safe keeping). I put a 500 gig HD on the slim, works great... It was a lot easier to install the HD on the slim too.

So yeah, apparently the 3.0 update is borked, if you have a PS3 don't update unless you want your friends list to look like this: Uhhhhh

I figure that's a case of "whoops" or "we let the programmers design the UI". Also the XMB fonts are now huge and look like someone left the SDTV design on for the HDTV theme. You can't hide the "Whats New" thing even after changing the setting for it for some reason.

So you might want to wait a few days for 3.01. And yes, Microsoft and Sony have both fucked up firmware releases multiple times. This is for informational purposes. If you don't care about these things then the update has a few decent features but disappointingly Sony has decided to follow the Microsoft path of stupid gay Avatars and marketplace themes.

The update comes on the same day as the launch of the new 120GB slimmer PS3.

hmm... this must not be talking about the US as I've had my PS3 Slim for almost a week now.

After reading the story the other day about the angry lesbians boycotting Shadow Complex I had to give the demo a try and ended up buying the game on Live. The game is super fun, it proves that sidescrollers can still be done if done well.

That's exactly what it is so I can't really fault the retailer for wanting to part an ignorant person from their money.

So the RRP for Wii Fit Plus (Software) is $20/£12.50 but retailers are charging $48/£30? What a fucking rip-off. They simply see anything related to the Wii as an opportunity to print money.
