That's a fun article, especially because I'd never heard of that widescreen fix for all the infinity engine RPGs. I'm starting to get this really desperate urge to fire up BG2 and Planescape again... 
Playing them on a tablet would be pretty awesome, but spending 1300 bucks just so you can play BG2 in a fun way seems rather excessive.
