Manual ARMA II Patch

The Bohemia Interactive Forums now offer downloads of the manual patch to update ARMA II the military shooter sequel to version 1.03. The patch for the game on Steam was released yesterday, and these patches do not apply to that edition. There's also a warning to back up your entire installation if you think you might want to revert to the previous version, as well as word that some fixes may not work with version 1.02 save games until you start a new mission. The patch is also mirrored on Gamer's Hell and The Patches Scrolls.

Hahaha, exactly. OFP will destroy Arma 2 even if OFP DR is a piece of shit. Arma 2 is a prime example of a tiny company biting off way more than it can chew and having a lack of what making a game is about.

Shit, even America's Army kicks this games ass in sideways.

Alike or not, the comparisons will be inevitable and there are probably a lot of people who are only going to get one, especially given the economic climate. With the way ArmA2 is shaping up, BIS is not doing itself any favors.
Huh? I'm sorry, I was thinking about cake.

If OFP2 is anything like ArmA2 (in theme, not in performance), BIS has all but given victory to Codemasters in their little competition.

OFP2 has more in common with Battlefield 2 unfortunately than it does with either the original Flashpoint game or the ArmA series.

Sure it'll have a large 'sandbox' type island to mess with but just about everything else is simplified, either for gameplay reasons or console limitations, there's only so many buttons on a console controller after all so it's understandable when you see things like being able to lean are left out of the game, or the ability to control your breathing (iron sights / scoped view seems to be rock solid anyway).

They're both worth getting but I'm sure that OFP2 will be more forgiving on the hardware requirements than ArmA 2.

"I ran over the heli pilot with the little cart to move aircraft around and sorta killed him and a few other npc's on the deck."

Wha--!? The supporting MP AI should've ran out of the ship and shot you. Then, they will throw your ass overboard. Shark bait.

I REALLY want to like this game, but just like Operation Flashpoint it fails miserably even with all these patches.

Maybe Codemasters won't make the same mistakes BIS did. OFP 2 looks pretty good.

Well I bought the game... the voice acting is even worse then in the demo, In the introduction on the aircraft/heli carrier, I ran over the heli pilot with the little cart to move aircraft around and sorta killed him and a few other npc's on the deck. Nobody said a word and it even allowed me to proceed to the next stage where you enter the helicopter and wait for the heli pilot to fly you to the drop off point. Well we all were sitting in the aircraft... with no pilot.. ugh ok restart the game.
Or another fun bug was when I was doing the tutorial of basic movement's first aid, etc. So I drive over to the rocket launcher course and have 2 options. 1) the Mount test, 2)blowing up fake tanks test. I choose option 2, and while doing this the NPC's from the Mount test came over and attacked me.

I REALLY want to like this game, but just like Operation Flashpoint it fails miserably even with all these patches.
I have to agree with others, this is their 3rd game and it more or less a cluster fuck.

Then turn it off.

Why doesn't it work well to begin with? That's a basic expectation of any other game. Why not this one?

Also theres a good mod out already to replace the NVG effects.

Again, why doesn't it work well to begin with? Plenty of people like to thump on Bethesda for letting the mod community fix their games for them, so why is it acceptable here?
Huh? I'm sorry, I was thinking about cake.

"10 years of constant engine development..."

You would think after that long this would be a pretty solid engine. But instead, their games just seem to get more and more buggy. Not only that, but the implementation of just about everything feels amateurish. I especially dislike the HDR implementation. It looks like a beginner in gfx programming whipped that up. The NVGs are not realistic at all which I think is due to the horrid HDR. The sound likes to play over and over or make things have an echo.

I could go on and on about the general poor implementation of virtually every aspect of this game. The ONLY thing that's good about it is the idea of an open sandbox world. I play this game quite a bit due to that as it does fill a gaming need I can't get anywhere else (maybe OFP2 will help but I'm un-sure). But I'm constantly shaking my head when I see how screwy things are done there.

It actually deserves the title PC game.

You make it sound like gaming on the PC is like buying designer clothes.

Gotta love those "I dont play it, so it must be dead and bad" comments.

I actually enjoyed it, the first time through. After that, I didn't get much inspiration for its replayability.

I love it. Heck, the editor alone keeps me occupied. I think the real issue revolves around people not willing to learn the extensive keyboard and mouse commands and the large number of craptacular systems people try to run the game on. I have yet to encounter a crash to desktop under Win 7. Bugs, yes, I have seen a few, but the gameplay makes up for it in spades.

ROFL. This game is by far the best PC game for quite some time IMO. It actually deserves the title PC game. The servers are frequented very well and there is no fucking sign whatsoever that this game is dead or whatever.

Gotta love those "I dont play it, so it must be dead and bad" comments. Pure ignorance and arrogance. Thanks for letting us know.
I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Back to your old tricks eh, Surf?

For some it's the best game ever, for others it's not fun at all. Objectively, it must mean it's an acquired taste, just like any game. An "utter failure" I don't think so, especially judging by the numerous reviews, the good sales and large community numbers-boost.

Looks like you are wrong, and I see you never addressed my reply to your unfounded comments in a previous post of yours...

No one listen to this guy. Although dislike of the game is quite valid, it doesn't need to be expressed through trolling, exaggeration, fact-twisting and self-importance. It's thought and reason vs. 99.9999% of teh internetz.

Can't wait for it to go away and the real reviews come out...

That haven't already come out? Just go to Metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/arma2 . Enough time has passed for it to get due consideration from anybody patient enough to play it (not me anymore).

I remember when this game came out, the buzz was high, now on here and other forums we get a handful of comments.

The game is an utter failure and a piece of shit. Can't wait for it to go away and the real reviews come out about just how un-fun this clunker is.

Installed it, and I get a nice crash to the desktop if I try and play the campaign.

I wonder if a reset will fix it. Ah well, the searching for answers begins.

This is the only manual release I've gotten from this game.
